What if Andre Dirrell gets an MRI and has bleeding on the brain?

    Then what?

His career is over in the States at least. I would at least say I would expect to hear the results that he suffered a concussion. I think he is done for 6 months.

When he was flat on his back he was shaking a bit. My friend who is a medic noticed it and said "WOW...do you see that." He knew he was ****ed.

And the Majority of Boxers walk back to their locker-rooms after they've been knocked out.

And if he is "OK"...well then he fights on. But maybe 6 months from now. He'll get an MRI though.

I was just wondering what happens if it is the worst case scenario like the Doctor was concerned with based on the signs.

If it's bleeding on the brain he'll need surgery fast, to ease the pressure. Assuming there's not a delay of sorts (unfotunately like there was with Michael Watson) and they get him to a hospital sharpish it could very well be the case that the surgery is very ordinary and there's no long term affects with Dirrell.

I think we would have heard by now if it was something that severe though.

I'll have to call my brother {Doctor} tomorrow but I don't think it is always the same thing.

Fighters get concussions all the time but you don't hear about bleeding on the brain. It's just head trauma. Bleeding on the brain is what they picked up on Messi and they revoked his license for a while. His career went nowhere after.

There was a medical article I read a while back that said when a fighter is knocked out...it's a concussion/trauma.

It still wouldn't stop people claiming he was faking. And I'm not even kidding.

If Dirrell cannot continue in the tournament due to a head injury I think Abraham should be kicked out...

For being in a fight? Tell Dirrell to stop slipping on the canvas so much.

What part of defend yourself at all times don't you get?

I hope Dirrell is not hurt, but I can't really blame AA for having an adrenaline rush, with blood in his eye, desperate for a KO.

You low blow a guy and headbutt a guy enough times and karma can be a *****.

You kick AA out and the tourny goes to ****.

                    It's a concern.

I once had an accident where I landed head first on concrete and got a concussion. I'm not sure how long I was out, or even if I was at all (I was alone at the time) but I remember that I didn't suffer any confusion, although I struggled to stand up for a while and threw up.

So the fact that AD behaved like that after the fight is worrying and makes me think it might be worse than a regular concussion. Hopefully he'll be fine, I feel really bad for the guy as he's now had 2 fights in a row ruined for him when it should've been his time to celebrate.
