Fighters get concussions all the time but you don't hear about bleeding on the brain. It's just head trauma. Bleeding on the brain is what they picked up on Messi and they revoked his license for a while. His career went nowhere after.

There was a medical article I read a while back that said when a fighter is knocked out...it's a concussion/trauma.
Dirrell was exhibiting post traumatic amnesia. One of the classic signs of a concussion.

Wrong. A concussion occurs when the brain knocks into the skull shaking around all your cerebrospinal fluid. That force of the brain knocking against the skull causes a KO and if the force is strong enough, a concussion.

I think he will be ok but I wonder if the amnesia will last?

didn't do much looking and not from a .org type site but still...

"The main concern after any blow to baby's head is injury to the underlying brain, which occurs in two forms: bleeding and concussion. When small blood vessels have been broken between the skull and the brain or within the brain, bleeding occurs within this space and compresses the brain. A blow to the head may also cause a concussion, meaning the brain has been "shaken up" by the fall. Pressure on the brain from bleeding or from the swelling associated with the concussion produces the outward signs of a brain injury. "
