I'm a huge Abraham fan and with all the emotions running wild, including my own, it's difficult to get a handle on everything. First off Dirrell fought a very smart fight and Abraham was unable to catch him, my hats off to the man for that. Secondly Abraham was coming on strong and did indeed knock Dirrell down in the 10th. I don't believe that Abraham is the type of person to try and put hurt on a man outside of the rules of the ring and I honestly believe that late punch, as bad and as tasteless as it was, was an emotional punch launched out of frustration, anger, etc.

What I don't understand however is why Abraham would do such a thing or even allow something like that to happen out of passion. I saw Abraham coming forward pressuring Dirrell and Dirrell was starting to lose his rhythm, there was no need for that late punch which is why I sincerely believe it was accidental in that Arthur just got carried away and let his emotions get the best of him.

Now as a huge fan of Abraham, it's a sad night for me. I thought he conducted himself very poorly in the ring tonight when he threw that punch late and during the post fight interview when he claimed Dirrell was acting. I am so very disappointed in the man. Make no mistake I've seen Dirrell do plenty of acting, falling down, clinching, bending down, etc throughout his career but I'll be damned if he was acting tonight. Arthur's late punch put the hurt on Dirrell and I just hope that he's alright for the sake of his health, for Arthur's careers sake, as well as for the sake of the tournament's.

Arthur Abraham fought poorly tonight though he was coming on strong near the end. As a fan of the fighter tonight is a tough emotional pill to swallow. I'm disappointed that he lost but I'm far more disappointed that he conducted himself in the manner he did, letting his emotions get the better of him. I hope that both men are allowed/able to continue their careers and stay in this tournament. Arthur will be lucky to escape suspension and Dirrell will hopefully walk away from this unscathed. Sad night for boxing...very sad.

    Get well Dirrell!

yes I agree its a shame how it turned out. AA made a mistake and it cost the fight (btw I dont think Dirrell was hurt either).

I did, and you said you didn't know if he was faking it or not. Which was a crazy thing for you to say - he was clearly out cold and badly concussed.

He def should have been disqualified and it was dirty but I think there are a lot of fighters who would have done the same thing. As sad as it is to say I think it was a pretty smart move because now Arthur loses by a disqualification where he brutally knocks his opponent out instead of going to by a large margin on cards. I just wonder if Dirrell can bounce back from a brutal knockout like that.
Here, this is not sad, this is disgusting.

You're right that was a disgusting post that you were responding to - AA could have permanently damaged Dirrell's health (and we still don't know for sure that he hasn't) - and for anyone to claim that was a smart move by him is really contemptible.

But that poster was wrong anyway - Abraham had a reasonable chance of getting a legitimate KO - he was starting to put real pressure on Dirrell for the first time in the fight, and had hurt him several times in the previous two rounds - and he totally blew it by losing his cool and getting himself disqualified.

Why is it crazy for me to say, how the hell do I know if he is was legitimately hurt or not? It wasn't 100% clear either way. Just look at how many posters here are split on the issue, and how Arthur Abraham himself accused Dirrell of being a good actor.

My main point is that putting the question of acting/faking aside, Abraham deserved to get disqualified for hitting a man who was down. Period.

Dirrel clearly slipped and was punched while he was down. Arthur rightfully deserved to be disqualified after punching Dirrel while he on the floor/mat.

Arthur had a bit of momentum going and probably had a decent chance to stop Dirrel, because Andre seemed to be fading. Too bad he made ****** mistake and got himself disqualified.
