what pacquiao did in the flyweight and featherweight divisions is irrelevant to the welterweight division.

pacquiao was a solid featherweight and huge at flyweight.

those guys didn't have the size and strength advantages that these welterweights do.

at the same time these welterweights are not used to fighting someone of pacquiao's speed.

pacquiao might be faster than almost all featherweights but the fact is the speed difference between an average featherweight and pacquiao is much less than the average welterweight and pacquiao.

if you have size and length and good enough to time pacquiao , you can try to box him but most welterweights don't have the skills and speed to do that.

best to use your size and strength advantages.
    Margarito only has height.

He is much slower. He doesn't hit as hard as Cotto. He doesn't have much defense. Pacquiao would easily avoid most Margarito's punches, and the ones that landed wouldn't be as hard as the one's he has taken already at 147. You are basically convinced Margarito would somehow overwhelm Pacquiao, who would be swarming Margarito much quicker. What about Margarito convinces you he would wear Pacquiao down? What about Pacquiao's career suggests he would wear down? Just because Margarito's taller?

LOL @ dismissing the fact that Margarito tried to cheat with "but he didn't get to use it!'

The fact is, if you get caught TRYING to cheat, you're a fucking cheater.

Bro come on now...this dude is making good points about a possible matchup, what other welter you can think of that can take shots like Margarito can? what other welter can throw as many punches as Margarito? what other welter has the stamina and endurance to withstand 12 rounds like Margarito? you are not looking at the big picture here man, Margarito is long as ****, he might not fight tall but he's punches are long enough hit you one way or another, again the big factor I see is Pac's explosiveness and movement, that can trouble anyone. Cotto punches harder than Margarito? again you are reaching my brother, he's a solid puncher but his power was extremely overrated IMO, and Margarito's chin is a solid proof of this.

Right, just like people seem to dismiss the fact the fighters like Mosley actually GOT IN THE RING juiced up and just got a slap in the wrist. Get the **** outta here with that bull****.

I don't think Margarito would get KOed in 4 or anything like that, but I don't think he has much a chance of beating Pacquiao. And Margarito is not a very hard puncher, he just throws and lands so many that they wear you down. As far as pure strength behind his punches plenty of welters have him beat. I don't think he lands that often on Pacquiao. Pacquiao would not have much trouble landing 5 punch combos and messing Margarito up while slow ass Margarito is failing to pressure effectively and land. And who knows what Margarito's chin is like after the Mosley fight.

And how can you say Cotto's power is overrated because Margarito took his shots, when Margarito was considered to have one of the best chins in the division?

It was a combination of two things, Margarito's will and chin and the fact that Cotto cannot punch backing down, Cotto's power is more effective as he walks you back. That's why I think Cotto's power is overrated, most of his KO's came in that way, from opponents who were on retreat, Cotto was never a one punch KO either, his best punch is/was his left to the body and he stopped using it.

Margarito actually can be a tough tough fight for pacquiao because of his size, chin and workrate.. Margarito will throw no matter what unlike clottey and his reach would be a problem too. Manny would have to fight the way he fought Oscar which to box box and box, keep turning marg and use his superior footwork, he can't stand their and with that 2 hands up defense or he'll get overwhlemed cause Margarito won't hesitate to throw. It would be a bad ass fight. But still the thought of margarito getting a big payday is gut wrenching.

i think he hits as hard as cotto. neither are one punch , dynamic punchers.

their power is the accumulative , damaging type.

what about margarito tells me he can wear pacquiao down? all margarito has ever done in his career is wear people down. much bigger and stronger guys than pacquiao too.

what in pacquiao's career suggest he can be worn down? take a look at pacquiao's face the last 2 fights. his fights at 130 and below are irrelevant in judging whether he can be worn down or not at 147.

pacquiao can take a good punch at 147 but his skin cannot take the punches of these natural welterweights as he did in the lower weight classes.
