david haye is just a belt-holder so no. maybe if hopkins beat wlad or vitaly he'd be ATG top 10

    • Him beating Haye is not even a possibility IMO but if he did, then I'd rank him in the top 20.

        • If Jones was near or in his prime, perhaps.

          • IMO Hopkins is already top 50 in the alltime great list. He recorded 20 middleweight title defences, a record. He was Ring magazine middleweight champion for what, 4 years? (I'm not sure whether Ring mag had him as its middleweight champion before the 2001 tournament?) He held all four title belts at once. He defeated, and became, The Ring magazine lt-heavyweight champion against all the odds and won it EASILY. He completely outboxed unbeaten Kelly Pavlik, the world middleweight champion, at the age of 43. His resume includes

            Pavlik
            De la Hoya
            Trinidad
            Winky Wright
            Antonio Tarver
            Glen Johnson
            Howard Eastman
            John David Jackson

In my opinion he deserved to win the second Taylor fight too. And many, though not me, thought a 43 year old Hopkins beat Calzaghe, who was unbeaten; undoubtedly it was a very close fight.

I consider him to be up there with Ray Robinson, Hagler, Greb and Monzon as one of the best middleweights ever.

            • Beating RJJ NOW means NOTHING.

              • Haye is over 220 pounds now, I don't see Hopkins taking him on and I don't see Haye moving down to face him.

Felix: good win, but Felix is 3-2 at MW, so a good win, not a great win
Oscar: lost to Sturm and Hopkins i.e poor MW
                  Tarver: solid win
Wright: moved uo two divisions, career jmw
Pavlik: moved up two divisions, has done nothing at lhw
                  David Haye: wont happen
Jones: you know Hopkins lost that fight, right?

This according to you is a great resume?
The best guys hopkins has fought are: Calzaghe, Tarver, Jones, Taylor and he is 1-4 in those fights, what does that tell you?
You could make a case that he beat Calzaghe (I wouldn't) but he beat Taylor handily in that first fight and fought to a draw the second time IMO. Hopkins is an ATG but ranked against his contemparies, I'd place him under Jones, Holyfield and possibly Toney as well.

                  • This is the exact reason why NSB is so bad and such a joke.

Hopkins is one massively overrated fighter, it sickens me to think he even got 1 vote when someone asked who the better MW was, Bhop or Hagler.

His resume is full of ****.

Felix was 3-2 at middleweight yeah, but you forget to mention that his 2nd defeat came after a lengthy lay off from boxing. When Hop beat him he was 40-0 and straight up running fools over. He looked even more powerful at 160 than 154

Oscar beat Sturm actually, anyway that was a close fight, Hop-DLH wasn't

The Wright fight was actually at 170, so he didn't quite move up 2 divisions, nearer 1 division actually. And he'd drew (and in many ppl's eyes beat) against Taylor at 160 and fought hard for 12 against Hop at 170, so you're just criticising for criticism's sake, it seems.
