1. Pacquiao is a non-american
2. The fight did not have any 24/7 series and was barely promoted
3. Clottey was almost unknown (Almost because he had some exposure against Cotto, Judah, Margarito all three who have a good to solid fan base)
The numbers are impressive IMO however 1 million people paid to watch floyd fight a lightweight which was largely considered a tune-up/joke bout by people, whats more impressive is it was going head to head with a UFC PPV Event.
Mayweather-Mosley easily doubles 700,000 pay per views. Prediction for Mayweather-Mosley PPVs: 1.5-1.7 million buys
UMMMMM, no....just ask anyone, Pac is a loser who is afraid to take drug tests, is supposed to be a big draw yet can't even break 800K on a PPV, and Mayweather will outsell him 3 to 1 against Mosley. I mean Clottey is just as big of a name as Mosley is and who needs promotional material anyways?

I find sports business a very interesting topic in regards to any sport, the business side of the boxing is a part of the sport and this is a boxing forum~Comment

I think its a myth that 24/7 will give your fight THAT much more success.
The exposure definitely helps, but I don't think it will push any fight over the top, if the general mainstream aren't interested in watching that match up.Comment

Just happens that lightweight was one of the most decorated Mexican fighters out there. Not that i care or i think it matters much but i would lean towards Pac/Clottey being the more successful PPV. Only 300,000 less against a former p4p champ 1st fight back out of retirement fighting one of Mexico's best. Not bad.1. Pacquiao is a non-american

Manny has a whole country behind him and has at least 3 million people supporting him in the US.
People need to stop making a big deal about the 24/7 series. That **** is not going to make you sell 100K+ of PPVs. Pac was all over TV, doing show, radio, interviews, etc.Comment

WTF!!! clottey is as big a name as mosley??? GTFO!!! besides, two non-american fighting that had 700,000 buys is pretty impressive...but than again, i wouldnt be surprised two americans (fraud vs mosley) doing better than that fighting in their own homeland...only people without common sense cannot comprehend that.UMMMMM, no....just ask anyone, Pac is a loser who is afraid to take drug tests, is supposed to be a big draw yet can't even break 800K on a PPV, and Mayweather will outsell him 3 to 1 against Mosley.
