I disagree with your opinion. But since it is true that America has always dominated the division there aren't many foreign heavyweight champions that we can use as examples for either of our arguments.

So let me try a different route: explain why the Klitshckos aren't popular in Britain?

Could it be that maybe, just maybe, they are one dimensional and boring?

Why is Haye not popular in Germany? Is he one dimensional and boring?

Nobody can honestly deny that the cold war mentality in American media and Political scene is alive and well.

As a result i'm sure most Americans have their perspectives framed in a similar outlook.

For both questions there are two big factors in my opinion. UK is obviously politically aligned with the USA and my same remarks above pertain to the UK too.

the other thing is cultural differences. Most Americans seem to love a loud, outspoken, arrogant, sports figure. Ali, Tyson, Jones jr, alot of basketball & football players etc. The UK may be somewhat similar but perhaps not to quite the same degree. Guys like Haye and Froch seem to have alot of supporters who like that kind of personality though.

        Klitschko's
        Chagaev
        Ibragimov
        Adamek
        Lyakhovich
        Boytsov
        Povetkin
        Jirov
        Tszyu
        Valuev

How many of these guys are known for being really outspoken or loud? I know that i personally am not a big fan of those kind of qualities and tend not have a great deal of respect for people who possess them in abundance.

So if most Americans view a Klitschko or Povetkin as 'boring personalities' outside the ring or find them hard to relate to i definitley think cultural differences plays a role in this.

Agree, good post. But remember, Haye is not very popular in the USA either.

So the Klits aren't popular because of Cold War bias? You guys are grasping at straws now.

Look at Fedor in MMA...he is from the former Soviet Union and he is NOT loud and outspoken. Yet he is well respected in the US and very popular.

To ammend my statement from earlier in the thread: You Klitschko fans need to maybe take a closer look and ask yourselves what does Fedor have that the Klitschkos don't?

Did you just say Fedor is "very popular" in the United States?

"Well respected," yes. "Very popular," no, not at least while he's still only had one bout with StrikeForce and isn't taking part in the UFC, the promotion most identified with MMA, much less MMA in the United States.

I don't think there's a Cold War bias against him, though, or against the Klitschko brothers either.

Are you ******? Fedor is not popular in the USA, how many PPVs did his events get? Why do you think Affliction went bust? Actually this just reinforces the argument that most americans are not interested in not american HW champions, no matter how good they are.

Most popular US athletes are not like that at all. Just to name some off the top of my head:

Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Brady, Favre, Manning, Phelps, Woods, Alex Rodriquez, Jeter, etc.

I don't agree with that at all, most people i've had conversations with about Wlad - Haye don't think Haye has a pray but they'd like to see Haye win because he's a Brit, that's all. It's just a nation getting behind its own fighter.
