You guys are biased as hell. Pavlik did ruin Taylor, not Hopkins. Just because you don't like Pavlik doesn't mean you can discredit him like that. Pavlik ruined him and also the fact that JT finally stepped it up and fought a bunch of heavy hitters to end his career. Hopkins feather fists have never ruined any fighter. Style wise he made Pavlik look like a bum but he didn't ruin him and will probably go on to kayo Martinez. I hate Pavlik by the way but the way BHOP is talked about on these forums makes me sick.
Thats because you are a Cotto loving Hopkins hater. Feather fists my ass, Hopkins used to KO his opponents until he got old and changed his style. You are tripping if you think Hopkins wasn't knocking fools out during his reign.
Lol, that way he is talked about makes you sick, he is 45 and is still a top P4Per. If that doesn't deserve the upmost respect I don't know what does.
Steve Smogert ruined Jermin Taylor's career. Jermain was slipping into unconsciousness while taking mean left hooks from Pavlik as the ropes were the only thing holding him up. The second Smogert stepped in between them to stop the fight, Jermain's lifeless body fell to the mat on his knees. That fight was stopped too late and Jermain is and has been paying the price for it.
Ruined or not, since the Pavlik/Taylor fights, Pavlik has fought: Gary Lockett, Marco Rubio, Bernard Hopkins (L), and Miguel Espino... while arguably ducking the two greatest challenges presented to him (outside of Hopkins) in Arthur Abraham and Paul Williams.
Meanwhile, Taylor has faced Jeff Lacy, Carl Froch, and Arthur Abraham.
So if Pavlik TRULY wants to answer his critics, maybe he should concentrate more on his own resume's weaknesses instead of trying to make excuses by pointing to the "ruined" careers of his past opponents (Taylor, Miranda)... considering those guys have been taking on legitimate challenges while he has only faced one good fighter, to whom he lost.
Pavlik may have ruined him, I don't know. I look at it this way; after the Pavlik loss, Jermaine went on to fight highly qualified and top level opponents with KO records. I think the reason for this is that he was trying to show he can fight a fighter who has great power to redeem the Pavlik KO loss, which ultimately is affecting him in some sort of way. I mean, look at it, he and fought guys who've had high KO percentages after his loss; Abraham, Pavlik, Froch, Lacy (although his power diminished after surgery).

I've seen highlights of Hops early career and there's no doubt he had more pop and even changed up his style to prolong his career, but he didn't ruin Jermain and I doubt he ruined Kelly. He exposed Kelly but he didn't ruin him. Even if Martinez does beat Pavlik, even dominates, I still wouldn't consider Pavlik ruined, just a bad style. Still think Pavlik is going to put Martinez down. Maybe Hop can ruin Jones though, I'd enjoy it if I didn't hear his name anymore.
