What a ****** ****ing comment! Who in their right mind would go to germany and fight ottke if they didn't desperately need a pay day. The fact that ottke clearly lost at least 2 of those 21 defenses you talk about, and the judges, refereeing. Calzaghe would have had to go there and knock him out, which he probably would have done, but no one can blame him for not taking that fight. Especially after robin reid went over there and got warned when he landed punches on ottke. Absolute joke of a comment

How useful would the advice be that JC gives Kessler when he didnt fight Froch to know if it would work. He should have fought Froch himself rather than give advice to someone else.
But Froch should quit with the too chicken to fight him quips so he retired. Because one day Froch will retire and some young british upstart will accuse froch of the same thing. JC accused Steve Collings of retiring rather than face JC as well. Whether its true is debatable as well.Comment

Yeah as a hardcore boxing fan I agree especially in his physical prime years 28-32, but you have to realise that fight was a money fight for calzaghe, he didn't earn very much up to the lacy fight, so he really needed to cash in on the end of his career. Manfredo was very well known by a lot of casual fans because the 1st contender series, so it had a bit of a cinderella story about it and did capture the imagination, the gate was huge and pretty much every guy I spoke to watched it, probably because of the whole contender angle. It was never gonna be competitive and for the hardcore fan I agree it was very frustrating, but the fight produced extremely good numbers not only on the gate but tv too.Comment

froch should have asked for that fight 2 yrs ago or even before joe's retirement.froch is makin ridicolous himself.Comment

I'm picking Froch to win this fight, and I don't like Calzaghe at the same time. So people will automatically think I have an agenda. But to me, I can't root for a guy who makes every excuse in the world of why he got his ass whipped. Maybe the refree was too leniant on the head butts, but other than that Kessler just got abused in that fight and didn't seem too gracious in defeat when it came to giving Ward credit. And the fact that Calzaghe says he's gonna train Kessler makes it hard for me to root for him in this fight. I also think Froch beat Dirrel fair and square.Comment

When it's all said and done, Froch will still have a resume on par with Calzaghe even if he loses to Kessler. Wins over Pascal, Taylor, and Dirrel are wins better than Calzaghe's pathetic title defenses barring Kessler.Comment
