Comments Thread For: Clottey Fires Back at Azumah Nelson Over Criticisms

Ghanaian Boxing Legend, Azumah Nelson, who is now the technical director of the Ghana Boxing Association, had a lot to say about the work of Joshua Clottey's corner during last Saturday's title fight. Speaking with Citi FM, he said Clottey's trainer Lenny de Jesus failed to do his job by not giving clear instructions to Clottey on how to beat Manny Pacquiao. [Click Here To Read More]

"Taking a page from Oscar De la Hoya's "bad oysters" excuse... Joshua Clottey has blamed his lack-luster performance against Manny Pacquiao on none other than... diarrhea from a stew concoction he consumed after the weigh-in and prior to his bout on Saturday night "When I eat after the weigh-in, I was running (****ting water), I went to the toilet up until midnight 4 times. In the morning I was running (****ting more stew) like three times. When I went to the dressing room like, I went another three times. When I'm sitting there waiting to go to the ring... I went more and more."

from boxingtruth....clottey is defo a baby crying.

Joshua is right. Its easy to step back and say this and that about what happened and not give any alternatives yourself. Every time Clottey tried to open up he got hit and hurt by the punches so he covered up and waited for his chance, it just didnt come.

I been in the ring and been massively outclassed, just months into training I was sparring with an all England champion so I can sympathise but at the same time you go out on your shield! I've been hit so hard that my vision went blac and white and so hard that my ears have rung but still I came forward because its ok to try and fail, if you don't try then you have failed already

Nah, I'm a fan of Clottey, but I gotta disagree. Clottey made absolutely zero attempt at trying to disrupt Manny's rhythm, and had no "Plan B", or Plan C" for that matter. Clottey didn't train for Manny Pacquiao - he just trained for a fight. A fighter needs to make things happen instead of waiting for chances that aren't going to come.
