The gap between Pac and Clottey was conditioning, not skill

In order to beat Packy, you must come ready to throw 100+ punches a round, or be a master assassin counter puncher like JMM who was so good he made Packy gun shy about throwing punches like Clottey allowed him to.

      What do ya'll think?

      2 things that pac has that clottey does not posses;

killer instinct & the "IT" factor.

All great legendary fighters have it. Pac has it, clottey doesnt.

What takes more balls walking Pacquiao down and blocking 1300 shots or runnign away from them. You think blocking punches with your arms and hands don't hurt?

These aren't 1300 Paul Williams love taps, these were knockout shots, 1300 of the shots used to almost kill Hatton and drop Cotto twice and TKO him.

I never disputed Floyds talent. I got problems with his resume and his choice of fights.

But he's got the skillset to beat Pac. He just has to engage and fight.

Pac definitely has it. Clottey has world class skill but his conditioning has always been sub par and his mental makeup is not that of a winner.

Kind of a tragic figure in a way.

so basically you're saying if clottey was a completely different fighter he would win

                You've overlooked a key factor.

                Pacquiao's speed.

If Clottey could throw a hundred punches per round and had Pacquiao's incredible speed then yes, he may have a chance. Unfortunately for him, he's nowhere near having either of those.

The first thing that many fighters say...and Clottey said, is that they couldn't deal with his speed.

Huh? Pacquiao was practically BEGGING Clottey to hit him.

I don't think even think punches will slow him down at this point. Cotto hit Pacquiao with his hardest shots, and it just spurred him on even more.

Do you think if JMM and Pacquiao fought at Welterweight that JMM would even stand a chance?

Not completely different. Same skillset, just improve his stamina.

Clottey can diminish Pac's speed w/ activity of his own. JMM showed this by making Pac gun shy about throwing by effective and precise counters.

Pac's punch output vs. JMM in both fights was nothing compared to what Clottey allowed him to get away with.

replace clottey's mindset with arturo gatti's & you have the welterweight version of azumah nelson.
