Who would be affected more by a loss? Manny or Floyd jr?

    http://www.411mania.com/boxing/colum...Mayweather.htm

If by some freak accident or twist of fate, BOTH Manny and Floyd jr. would lose, who do you think would be affected more in terms of popularity and standing in the rankings? I'd like to know your opinions.

My apologies in advance if someone already posted a similar thread...

If they both lose I'd laugh my ass off.
If Pacquiao only loses I'd be really happy.
If Mayweather only loses I'd be .

It would hurt Mayweather's public perception a great deal as so much significance has been placed on his "O" over the years (which he himself is guilty of encouraging), but I'm not convinced it would destroy him mentally or ruin his career as is frequently suggested around here.

Pacquiao has tasted defeat, official and otherwise, before and I don't think it'd wreck him either, but it might take a bit of steam off the bandwagon.

        pbf!

pacq has been beaten numerous times, and even ko'd!
a loss to pacq is nuthing, he still will have an army of nationalistic worshippers wherever he goes.

pbf is suppose to dominate n a loss would be a huge upset for whomever he fights.

Floyd would go into deep depression if he lost. He has built his whole world around that '0' on his record. If he lost it, his words and life would have no meaning

In my opinion, it would also depend on HOW they would lose.

But basically, i think Floyd jr. has more to lose (ranking wise) than Manny.

                Floyd, by quite some distance.

If Mayweather lost, he'd probably react to it the same way that Hamed did.

If Pacquiao lost I think he'd probably come back 6 months later and beat an entertaining-but-limited opponent like Valero and still have a lot of fans.

If Floyd lost, it would be the same effect as when Cotto lost, but for different reasons.

He would lose his aura of invinciblity like Cotto did. I actually think it would do much more damage to Mayweather psychologically than it did to Cotto.

It honestly would be the best thing to ever happen to the sport tbh. I could see Mayweather going on a tear in boxing taking on everyone who breathed

                    Pac hands down, imo.

There is no shame in losing to Shane Mosley, who is currently ranked #3 in the world pound-for-pound. If Floyd were to lose to Mosley, you could also gaurantee a high-profile rematch at some point. While I'm sure Floyd would be devastated to lose his '0', I'm sure it wouldn't cause many of his fans to abandon him or force him out of the sport for good.

Joshua Clottey on the other hand is a solid fighter with a relatively low profile who is currently not ranked in the top ten on Ring Magazines P4P list. He also lost to Manny's last opponent in Miguel Cotto, who was absolutely brutalized by the Pac-Man. If Clottey hands Manny a loss tonight, I'm sure people would be a lot more shocked than if Floyd were to lose to Mosley.

That said... It would have a lot to do with how each fighter lost. Obviously a brutal KO defeat is going to sting a lot more than a controversial split decision.
