Pacquiao has tasted defeat, official and otherwise, before and I don't think it'd wreck him either, but it might take a bit of steam off the bandwagon.
Good post. Yeah pretty much... Although it must also be said that 50% of Floyd's audience watch him to see him lose and that's 50% of his appeal, you see? It's so bad that most people will claim Manny Pacquiao sells more tickets and ppv fighting Cottey than Floyd would fighting the same Clottey, even though Mayweather outsold Pacquiao, against common opponents, every single time, and it wasn't even close. There was a poll around here and Pacquiao won unsurprisingly, although Mayweather would really sell more in any circumstance.

      Floyd's fraudness will get exposed.

Pac if he lost would just go on his merry ways looking for hotties to fck and floyd will still be stuck with elle.

The first loss hurts the most.

Floyd be a lot, first of all his whole thing is being undefeated. Second, Mosley is his first top WW fight, so if he loses, in my opinion he was really overrated, and if he didn't retire he could have definitely lost to cotto, williams, and margs if he had fought them. On the other hand Manny has only fought one real WW and it was a catch weight, also Clottey probably weighs 20 pounds more than Manny at walk around weight. I would be surprised if either lost but for me if Manny loses than clearly he is not that great at WW, where he has only fought twice, once if you don't count the Oscar fight like me. If Floyd loses than he is also not that great at WW, except he has fought there for almost 5 years and has not faced a top 3 WW yet, he would be 0-1 vs top WW's. If he had the balls to fight marg and clottey, like Cotto, than he could have a couple more losses on there. The biggest reason for it hurting Floyd more is because he said himself he is so great and the best because he has never lost, so therefor it would tarnish everything he has previously said.

Floyd would be affected more, hands down. He has built his career and reputation around being undefeated. If he suffers his first loss, it would send a shockwave throughout the boxing community.

Pac's been beat. He could still look forward to a Mayweather fight or going back to 140 for really good fights with Bradley or Alexander. Floyd's whole persona is dependent on the undefeated record. He would have to completely overhaul his PR with a loss.

If by some freak accident or twist of fate, BOTH Manny and Floyd jr. would lose, who do you think would be affected more in terms of popularity and standing in the rankings? I'd like to know your opinions.

My apologies in advance if someone already posted a similar thread...

Floyd will be affected more, since this is the only card he's got.

He'll probably fall into a deep depression after Shane KO him.

Pacquiao obviously. He is facing a fighter pretty much unknown to the casual fan.

Mayweather vs Mosley is (to the casual fan) highly competitive.

I like Floyd a lot but I think he would off himself.

I think the TS meant in general, but this is also a good point. I guess it depends who each fighter loses to.
