Has Floyd fought a live opponent in the last eight years?

Dan Rafael clearly doesn't like Mayweather as you know, but even him and the ESPN team scored it 116-112 for Floyd.
Most people had that score as well including the HBO Team (Die hard Oscar nuthuggers), Boxingscene, etc. Ive watched the fight too many times and honestly I cant see how Oscar won more than 4 rounds in that fight. He simply didn't land, most of the shots were blocked and he was getting countered and outclassed by Mayweather. Floyd landed almost twice the punches Oscar did, Oscar was throwing a lot of punches, and he threw more punches than Floyd but Oscar landed 21% of almost 600 thrown punches.
Out of the first 5 rounds, the only round Oscar won WAS Round 2 IMO. Round 6 could be scored either way as Floyd landed more punches and was more accurate but Oscar threw more and won the last quarter of that round, so i gave Oscar round 6 even though it was a very close round.
I also gave Round 7 to Oscar as he was busier but still not as effective. His workrate won him that round and he landed some good jabs. After this round oscar had stopped using his jab because his jab was getting countered by floyds right hands.
Everyone unanimously agrees Floyd won from rounds 8-11, they werent close rounds.
As for the final round it was close but Floyd won about 2 minutes 30 seconds of that round and Oscar won the last 30 seconds when they traded (Floyd could have chosen not too but he did, and Oscar got the better of it.
Most people had the score 107-102 after 11 rounds, Round 6 and 12 were close rounds that I gave to Oscar which he won based on his workrate, and round 12 he won because of the last minute exchange, floyd was winning most of that round until the last minute he decided to trade with Oscar and Floyd didn't get the better of it. If Floyd didnt trade in that last minute (He was just having fun) the fight would have been scored 117-111.
Can you tell me which rounds in your opinion Oscar won? For me its Round 2, Round 6, Round 7 and Round 12 (Close)
I know the overall punchstats have nothing to do with how the fight is scored round by round but look at this, its pretty impressive:
Total Punches thrown by De La Hoya: 587
Total Punches landed by De La Hoya: 122
Connect Percentage for De La Hoya: 21%
Total Punches thrown by Mayweather: 481
Total Punches landed by Mayweather: 207
Connect Percentage for Mayweather: 43%
Power Punches thrown by De La Hoya: 341
Power Punches landed by De La Hoya: 82
Connect Percentage for De La Hoya: 24%
Power Punches thrown by Mayweather: 241
Power Punches landed by Mayweather: 138
Connect Percentage for Mayweather: 57%

If you see the round by round punch stats Mayweather has the edge in 9 rounds by landing more punches in each, sometimes doubling the land percentage compared to oscars...Oscar was punching air most of the time and floyd made him miss alot and then countered him.
Like I said, the only error made that night was by one of the judge. Oscar didn't stop using the jab after round 7 because he was tired, it was the fact he was getting countered and Mayweather adjusted once he figured him out.
Annie IMHO I think Mosley is a tougher fight for Floyd than Pacquiao. Floyd is a stylistic nightmare for him IMO, A counter puncher better than JMM whos best punch is the lead right hand (The punch pacquiao hates the most). Mosley is stronger, got fast hands, has knocked out bigger fighters, and he wont respect Floyds power like he respected Cotto and Mayorgas, he was a bit careful there.Comment

In reality neither Pacquaio or Mayweather have fought the hottest fighter out there as of late i see neither of them calling out PWill or Berto they are about big money fights at this point of there careers and you really cant blame them they built themselves to this point beating world champions.and the both fought shot versions of dlh and a highly overrated Hatton.Comment

I agree Parody, I'm tending to think that Mosley is a tougher fight. Simply because I don't see Ping Ping beating Floyd, it's an awful style match up for him. Whereas Shane MAY do it.
As for Floyd-Oscar then sorry, it's been too long since I've seen it. I just didn't think that he won eight rounds CLEAR, even though I think I scored it that way.Comment

Your right mate about the styles mate, And the reason I think its tough because Floyd fought JMM in his last fight and prior to that he was inactive for 18 months. Inactivity for 18 months, then fighting a lightweight JMM and then going from JMM to Mosley is a tough task IMO considering Mosley is used to fighting bigger fighters. Vargas, Mayorga, Margarito and Cotto are big welterweights/light middleweights and Mosley has KO'd some of them.I agree Parody, I'm tending to think that Mosley is a tougher fight. Mosley is much bigger and stronger than Floyd's last two opponents...People love to point out how Mosley lost to Cotto and had a close fight with Mayorga, but the thing to remember is Mosley respected their power (Cotto won 115-113) and was careful with them, will he be careful with Floyd? I doubt it because I dont think Mosley thinks much about Floyds power. I know Mosley will fight for 12 rounds, even though he aint in his prime he is still a damn good fighter and is ranked #1 at welterweight/#3 P4P for a reason.
Floyd is a great fighter right now but still he aint in his Prime like some people think. A prime floyd threw combinations, had a better workrate, let his hands go more often and had better speed. As he moved up in weight he has lost some of that speed, he doesnt throw combos anymore, he is very economical with his punches, 130-140 lbs (1996-2005) version of Floyd was the best IMO and that was a Prime Floyd. He isn't past it but not in his absolute prime either since he left 140 lbs.Last edited by Parody; 03-13-2010, 12:25 PM.Comment

that's fkn dumb man your just discrediting his acheievements... I can do the same damn things for Manny last few opponents as well but that's ****** it's like if I saidCastillo - my fault for not making the thread title clearer, he's not included in this range.
Judah - Judah, while undeniably skilled, has been a gatekeeper for many years now. Clottey, Cotto... they're all having a piece of his ass. Let's not forget that Floyd was fighting him straight off the back of a loss to an Argentinian cab driver.
N'Dou - this guy's successes had been against lesser comp and he had been stopped in three by Anthony Campbell, a Green Teefer who now holds a 15-15-4 record. As for N'Dou himself, then his career after the Floyd bout reminds me of that Stevie Wonder song: "you ain't done nuthin'".
Oscar - Two fights away from retirement and still pushed Floyd close.
Hatton - A decent if not great operator... arguably the biggest threat to Floyd in this run, alongside Oscar.
Cotto - Wasn't the same fighter after Margarito, fought at a catchweight, coming off a fight he didn't look good in and argueably lost
Hatton - Wasn't the same fighter after being KO'd by Floyd, had a bad training camp, didn't seem focused at all
De La Hoya - weight drained, fought at a weight he hadnt fought at in 10 years
Diaz - weakest champion at 135, tailored made to get a beating for Pacquiao
Marquez - Manny lost this fight but was given a gift
...... You see? that's dumb, I can do that to almost any fighter but Floyd has fought great opposition stop being a haterComment
