I like Pavlik, i hope he gets his career back on track. Id take him over Martinez in a tough fight, and id take him over Williams. Both pick em' fight though i reckon. Hopefully the Pavlik - William sfight comes off at some stage...been waiting for it for ages now.

IMO. It was Kelly's ego that got him in big trouble in the B-Hop fight(not to mention he was out-classed by one of the greatest fighters of this era). Kelly thought that he could go in there are just lean on BH and take the fight to him like he did with JT; well JT may have beat B-Hop, but he did so by imploring a different strategy than Kelly, plus it was time for B-Hop to leave the MW division(his body couldn't take it any longer IMO). What Kelly fails to realize is that he beat JT because he outlasted him, NOT because he was more technically sound as far as boxing skills and ring savy. Kelly's defense is not the greatest(by any means or stretch of the imagination), so for him to comment on PWill's defense is to me laughable at best. If he is trying to gage Paul and Sergio's talent level off of their last fight together, than he is sadly mistaken. In the fight between Paul and Sergio, both camps initially began training fo two totally different fights and fighters(example would be: Paul had to switch mid-camp training for a Orthodox fighter to training for a Southpaw; an adjustment like that is a pretty big adjustment to make). So those of us who watched the Williams Vs. Martinez in all actuality got to witness a pretty raw Boxing match, where the game plan basically was the core of each fighter's make up rather than the corner's gameplan. Bottom line, Kelly needs to focus on his next match and stay out of the pubs(wrong place to be for a Boxer with a staph infection anyway) in between fights and stop living off of JT's name and accomplishments, it's time for you to make YOUR name now Kelly.Comment

It's funny that Kelly is critical of Williams for getting hit too much when he gets hit more than Williams. That bum Espino was lighting him up with 5 and 6 punch combos at will. When was the last time Williams got hit by a 5 punch combo? Never, because Paul is actually slick when he wants to be and he knows how to tie up. Kelly has some of the worst defense in boxing.
That said, I do think he will finish Martinez late. Martinez is good but not a real middleweight and definitely not perfect enough to take on serious power from a guy that is much taller and can throw a nice straight punch.Comment

I think the opposite. Martinez is a 154 pounder and not long or strong enough like Hopkins was to be able to move and counter all night without getting beat up. Williams is crap at fighting tall and keeping proper distance, Pavlik is not.
Against Williams though, Pavlik will have to match Paul's workrate. Williams is more comfortable and overall much more dangerous with guys who stand in front of him.Comment

Pavlik needs to do his talking in the ring. He's wrong about the Hopkins fight, it wasn't just an off night, he got owned pure and simple.
He needs to fight some real names from the Super 6 or Sturm or Bute.Comment

Pavlik is such a cry baby. Take your lumps like a man. Oh I beat Jermaine Taylor twice. ***** everyone beat Taylors ass for the past two years.Comment

WBO/WBC/Ring middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik takes time out of his training camp to talk to BoxingScene.com about his upcoming bout with Sergio Martinez. The Youngstown Ohio native holds back nothing and bombastically responds to the criticism he has received for his loss to Bernard Hopkins and an admittedly rough 2009. Pavlik says that he is held to a higher standard than a lot of other fighters and that he feeds off the criticism to prove that he is among boxing's elite. He is confident that the Martinez fight will be the start of a banner year for him. Then in 2011 he plans to move up in weight after the Super Six tournament is over.
