When you think about it, Lewis was the last truely accomplished and legit heavyweight champion other than Wlad and Vitali still lost. To me, in my humble opinion, it says more about the competition available to these guys, than how good they actually are.

What this is, is Vitali knows he is fighting a proper bum, and so he has to "remind" people of the time he fought a great fighter, albeit an old and fat one that gassed out after 3 rounds and still beat him, but hey, he fought him!

Here's one of my posts from another Vitali/Lennox thread:

        THE TRUTH

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

        punches landed

        Vitali 156

        Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission that night and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

Vitali intimidated the **** out of the scared Lewis after the fight and made him look like a *****. All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight.

        Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

That 25 mil was changed because HBO couldn't pay for it actually.

Vitali did well, a prime Vitali did well against an out of shape Lewis, but the fact is, he got cut by a 'punch' and that punch gave him a 'cut' and not a small one.

Basically a 38 year old Lewis beats 38 year old Vitali.

A prime Lewis beats a prime Vitali.

A prime Vitali nearly beat an old Lewis, but nearly doesn't mean actually.

PS. why do you only post when it's about a klit?

Punches to the head don't "exhaust" you, being old and in poor shape does.

Lewis got the W, and to this day it eats at Vitali, because he knows that without that W he is nothing. thats why he still talks about it all the time.

Lewis was 37, that's not old for a heavyweight. Vitali is 38, came back after a 4 year layoff and is still dominating.

Before the fight, Lewis said he was very motivated, in good shape and wanted to keep fighting for a long time.

Lewis was coming off the KO win over Tyson. In the Lewis/Tyson post fight interview Lewis stated "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age".

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared him into retirement. That's a FACT!

Although you are medically insane I will answer.

I think Lewis retired cause he knew he was past his best and in a rematch he knew Vitali might well have beaten him given the tough time he had in the first fight, but he wasn't in his best shape. At the time of the stoppage Lewis was coming on more, Vitali couldn't continue, he got tore a new eye socket. Lewis was hurt at times true but he stood up to it.

Funny how he is calling out a retired fighter. Can't get any more desperate for attention.
