I'm in my truck right now but when I get a chance to get to a comp I will post an article from 1999 where Arum states that they offered Shane to fight Floyd at 137 lbs. Shane was having trouble making 135 that is why he skipped all the way up to 147 (plus he wanted to fight Oscar).

There isnt a boxer that would ever be favored against Floyd. Hes already an ATG in mosts eyes. There isnt Durans, Haglers, or Hearns in Floyds era. He can only fight whos in his era. The ONLY ATG around his weight class that he couldve ever fought is Pac just to put things in perspective on how different the sport is today.
I agree with you on the fact that there arent as many legacy fights out there but he should have been fighting better guys at 147. Mosley earlier, cotto, margartio, etc. and I don't want to hear your line of bs about bob arum when it came to cotto floyd has a bs line for everyone, so when it came to the pacquiao type money he was willing to negotiate with arum? he could have chased a fight with winky years ago when he was at 154, and if he beat him he could have said hey look I did something that neither mosley or tito could do. He couldve fought paul williams and could even now, if he beat him that would be really impressive, if he lost, so what look how much of size advantage williams has, he would have come down to 47 for it too, but what does floyd say "he's too big". He makes all his decisions on maximizing money and minimising risk...and thats not what the greatest fighters do and I do have to emphasis GREATEST because you don't seem to getting it

shane ducked floyd in 1999 because he wanted to chase oscar and fight him---floyd was still at 130 pounds---he did call out shane mosley--but shane wanted a big money fight, and this is when i believe he really started taking ped's---he was just caught after the 2nd de la hoya fight---floyd did move up to chaze kosta, shane, judah, and mosley---shane did cuk floyd in 2006, and floyd called him out in 2005 also as well as hatton, josta, zab, winky, and de la hoya, and they all ignored him except zab---but he had to focus on spinks before the floyd fight--and zab kept pricing himself out---floyd was the bigger star and zab had losses on is record---but they fought and zab lost of course---winky didn't take floyd serious and when he did realize floyd was serious he price himself out also---coz winky only started to make a name for himself when he fought shane and trinidad, smaller guys of course naturally---floyd wanted to fight bigger guys, basically every fighter back in 2005 but nobody wanted to fight this kid, especiall hatton and cotto after watching what he did to gatti---

He told Cotto that he would love to fight him but he has to drop Arum. Arum and Floyd couldnt sit together and strike a deal for 100 Million how could they strike a deal for 8??
Williams is managed by Haymon. So is Floyd. If Paul drops Haymon it could happen. Cmon man Floyd vs. Winky like seriously? You keep talking about shoulda, coulda, woulda.
Right now hes fighting the P4P Number 3 and Number 2 WW. Then after hes fighting Pacquiao the P4P Number 1 and Number 1 WW.
Cant knock that.Last edited by B.U.R.N.E.R; 03-06-2010, 08:34 PM.

all this 1999-2000 and 2005-2007 duck talk is garbage from both sides.
the only time those 2 could have really fought each other and it make sense is now. (or maybe 2008-2009 if floyd had not retired)
floyd mayweather had barely won his FIRST title in 1998. he had no name value or at least barely.
for mosley to fight floyd in 1999-2000 when he was trying to chase delahoya would make as much sense as floyd fighting mosley in 2007 instead of $$$$$$$ for hatton and delahoya.

Cotto can fight Gomez and Jennings.
Marg can fight Golden Johnson but Floyd cant take a tune up?
