As hes gotten older hes gotten smarter. Passes more, crates for teammates, trusts his teammates, etc...Hes still the best player in the NBA by far.

Why would shane fight him then? There was no money in the fight at all, floyd was coming up a weight division had everything to gain and nothing to lose. He hadn't even fought diego corrales or any other big names at 130 at that point. What do you think floyd would have done if the shoe was on the other foot? Thats #1

#2: Shane didn't exactly take the route of least resistance like floyd often does. He moved up to ww in the middle of 99, jumped 2 weight divisions and set up a million dollar pay day with oscar, who at that point was a more dangerous and lose-able fight, in my opinion.

What floyd has done since he moved to welter is completely different, and him not fighting shane for so long is completely different, yes shane has spend a lot of that time at 154, but shane moved back down against collazo a long time ago. The thing with floyd is that he hasn't only ducked shane, but a string of ww contenders and champions.

Floyd constanly twists facts to his advantage, I have said many times as a fighter he is truly great, but he lacks the bravery to be up there with the greatest, he is terrified of losing. I give him credit for what he has achieved, and gave him massive credit for fighting oscar at 154, but these things have come far too little for someone who posesses that kind of talent. For someone who considers himself to be the greatest of all time, he is well and truly short of even the top 10 in my book.
Cool story bro, but they are really talking more about 2006. Floyd wanted it in 1999 but it made sense in 2006.

cant add more to that. yet dont you just regret it that his prime was wasted with teammates like Kwame Brown, Mihm, Smoosh Parker, Brian Cook etc...

if he was still in his prime with his teammates now, they'd be doing damage.

then again, he wouldn't be what you described him and wud still be hoggin the ball.

Yeah but a lot of people have been talking about 99 recently and floyd himself at some of the press days this week. The 2006 is more arguable, knowing floyd and knowing shane, floyd probably wasn't willing to do the later date. Why wouldn't shane want to fight him if he had the proper preparation? Come on! You really think after everything shane has done in his career that he wouldn't wanna fight him, he is fighting floyd at 38!

Shane is a warrior a throw back.
