Na, I don't like Mcgirt 4 Cotto. I don't like his style at all. He had Gatti fighting & getting hit 2 much. That's not what Cotto needs. Just like he tried 2 turn Paulie into a brawler. His style doesn't work all the time on every1.

It wouldn't be a good choice imo.

He aint hiring McGirt, the Cuellar deal is almost done. They are just calling all the trainers in the list that Arum gave him, to make bob happy.

He didn't have Gatti fighting at all.He had him boxing lke with Branco,Leija,Dorin,Millett, etc.Gatti ended up slugging it out because he was easily brought into a fight after getting hit.

And he didn't turn Malignaggi into a brawler either,he wanted to make him sit in the pocket more but Malignaggi was never good on the inside so he got hit a lot there.

so since he was never good at fighting on the inside, why the **** did Mcgirt try 2 have him fight that style? You have 2 recognize your fighters strengths & use them 2 his advantage like Paulie's new trainer is doing. & please don't bring up those other dudes cuz those guys are bums. Look if u like Buddy, that's cool, I really don't. He can stay wherever the **** he's at. Bring me Orlando.

cottos best days in the ring far past . hes been no good since margarito he shouldve got a trainer back then its too late now hes too too beat up he just cant take a punch, he fades and stops throwing, cotto needs to realize hes shot very shot.margarito turned him in to ground meat, clottey and pacyow finished him off. cotto is a class act but its over for him at the top level.he needs to retire.

cotto relied on his power too much when he couldnt faze margarito he gave in , i never thought cotto was that good until he outboxed mosley but even then he was running for his life towards the end of the fight even at his strongest point he showed weaknesses.too flawed and too beat up .

Because he obviously thought he could and he had the speed, reflexes and defense to do it but Malignaggi's defense was always leaky.Even on the outside he gets hit.In hindsight it's easy to look back nad say it was wrong but at the time it's another story.
And no those are not ''bums'',I was just giving examples of what McGirt brought to the table in his work with Gatti.
I don't care much for McGirt either but to say he didn't do good at least with Gatti and Tarver is prepastorous.

McGirt is a very good choice...

I think McGirt is a very good choice & since McGirt is in Vero beach, not far from Tampa which is where Cotto now trains makes it even better.....& if it's between Cuellar & McGirt, definitely McGirt is a way better trainer..It would be even better if Cotto could hook up with a great trainer like Nacho Baristain or Ronnie Shields...Besides the fact that training with Beristain would be great because of his knowledge & one could add that training in the altitude of Mexico City would be very good for his conditioning(it would be like an extra bonus)...Lets see who Cotto ends up with......

McGirt is a horrible trainer I think. Someone brought up Gatti earlier, but Gatti had untapped boxing skills at the time he was a brawler and I guess you've gotta give McGirt credit for making Gatti acknowledge that. But other than his work with Gatti, he is trash. If he was a good trainer then he wouldn't have let Tarver play in the Rocky movie before the Hopkins fight.
