Yeah, the thing is boxing props and builds up certain guys to be the "stars" and when someone comes along and spoils or comes close to spoiling the plan, the guys with the money get upset. So unless, you KO someone, you are likely gonna get robbed no matter how one-sided the fight was. Same thing with Funeka, Guzman was being built up as some unbeatable phenom and he got spanked but they sure as hell aren't going to give a decision to a no name guy from some foreign country. Clottey, Funeka, Martinez are all guys that will likely lose close decisions to top American/PR/Mexican/Cuban/DR fighters because they are threats to the cashcows of the networks. The guys from the above countries are the normal top contenders and are usually the developed talent....when outsiders come in, the get shafted because there is not as big of a fan base here in America for them to be developed into stars.

Kelly said that he'd fight Williams two weeks after the second cancellation. Fact.

This **** is revisionist history to me. But in case you didn't know HBO wasn't gonna televise it two weeks later. So that don't mean ****. Pavlik jerked Williams around. End of story.

As for who I think will win between Martinez and Pavlik, I think it could go either way. Martinez is a slippery boxer, but he isn't as slick as people make him out to be. So I could see Pavlik maybe getting to him.

i got martinez by s.d.he is gonna give pav alot of problem's with his in an out movement martinez showed how tough he was against pwill and pav showed he can be hurt by big shot's like in the taylor fight but if martinez get's hit with a long left hand it's goodnight but i think martinez will win

Well here we go. Good morning boxing fans. This is my first post on here, been watchin and reading ya'll for a long time, and finally decided to post on here. Just a quick snap shot of myself is what this intro is about, so that you all have an idea of what type of fan you are engaging if you decide to talk boxing with with ya boy.

I am a fan of BOXING(The Sweet Science) 1st; fighters come 2nd. I've have been watching boxing for a long time, the 1st fight I remember watching on t.v. was SRL and Tommy "The HitMan" Hearns, The Showdown, and was a fan of SRL throughout the rest of the 80's and early 90's. I have respect for any and all fighters so you probably wont hear me call ANY fighter a coward(you gotta have nuts to get in the ring in the 1st place as far as I'm concerned). But most importantly I would call myself a student of boxing being that I'm willing to watch the cats with no name, journeymen, prospects, contenders, and champs. It doesnt matter to me as long as it's a FAIR contest. Also I am not a BIASED fan. Props are given and opinons are great but facts are what remains, so I try to deal in the black and white of facts rather than the gray of biased speculation, but there is always room for different angles of interpetation as far as I'm concerned.

Now that I have introduced myself, this is my thoughts on this Pavlik/ Martinez matchup. Martinez could very well walk away with the win. as somebody stated earlier he's pretty dag gone slick, and he has a very key ingredent working for him....confidence. Kelly on the other hand is pretty much a one trick pony....power. Which always gives him a chance but cant give him the fight unless he sets it up properly. Martinez has alot of bad "habits" but his slickness kinda makes up for them, but if he moves straight back like he habitualy does with his hands down the night WILL be short for him in a bad way. But Martinez can easily outbox Kelly. The question is for how long? I got Sergio in this one based on down right skills, but Kelly does have a "punchers" chance, besides Sergio doesnt follow his corners instructions all that well, but neither does Kelly. Should be an intresting scrap.

Sergio wont NEED a KO. As long as he doesnt decide to get cute. If he has a decent gameplan and sticks to it, he'll be fine. He operates with good in-n-out, and lateral movement, plus he cracks harder than most give him credit for. Remember Citron thought he got butted when Serio caught him cleanly on the head. That's some pretty good pop if you ask me potna.
