Well I guess I'll my add thoughts. I didnt see this coming this dude took alot of punishment from JMM over 24 rounds. His first fight with Erik. He was hurt against Larios. Barerra got a few good shots in. So now I expected him to slow down overall. Iknew he would be fast but NOT that fast he made Cotto look slow and Cotto made Shane look slow.

50-50 on this one, I knew he wouldn't get seriously hurt/stunned but he kinda did surprise me that he was so confident with mixing it up.

Honestly before the DLH fight i just had the feeling pac would get worked since he was such a smaller fighter and DLH is naturally bigger, i thought oscar would have his way with pac. fight night comes along and pac destroys dlh and put me in awe lol

Certainly you realize that was not the same Cotto with the same confidence..

Mind you fighting bigger fighters and KOing them all under the behavior thats hes shown regarding the testing.

So which of you one posters knew Pac would carry his speed, power and stamina like that? Who expected this?
He isnt hitting faster, i think he puts more into his punches and his heavier therefore seeming to have greater power.
He doent just rely on his straight left anymore, he has developed a great range of punches.
He has also fought the right opposition. Oscar was an old punchbag, Hatton walked forward with no defence, and Cotto was hurt when he went on the attack.

Compared to the smaller fighters he faced that were faster and harder to hit. Barrera and Morales are ATG'S, JMM is a great counter puncher and his style wasnt easy for Pac to deal with.

Hes always taken punches well apart from when he was very young. He also is much wiser now and with Cotto was bracing himself to absorb the punches.

Its not about expecting him to improve. Great fighters are capable of winning against the odds and achieving the impossible. Look at Ali, Armstrong, Pep (after the plane crash), Leonard etc.

With real greatness u have to expect the unexpected.

I still think the PED accusations are weak.

You also do realize Cotto had a long training camp and was in the best shape he has been in awhile while Pacquiao had a weaker camp and had to change his locations a few times.

                  No excuses.

What does that have to do with the difference between an unbeaten 110% confident Cotto... and a physically beaten pulp that Margarito gave to him.

No amount of training is going to restore what he left in the ring that night, not too mention the hellacious fight with Clottey.

                    Training camps don't restore everything.

b/c cotto was ripped up, that doesnt mean he was good shape.

he looked over trained(conditioning) and dehydrated to me

some boxers have cut physiques when they are in shape and others dont.

cotto is one of those boxers who doesnt when in shape
