Can Juan Carlos Gomez still be a force in the HW Division?

I remember seeing this guy easily outbox sinan samil sam, and i thought at that time, this guy might make it all the way, but he then suffered a shock loss to a guy he should have beat if he had of took the fight serious. he has since had a good win over defiagbon, and is fighting later this month. not many guys in the heavyweight division have the sort of boxing ability gomez has, and if he shows the sort of form he had aganist samil sam, i still think he's one of the top heavyweights out there, what do you guys think?

No he is nothing but a glorified cruiserweight. There was alot of hope for this guy on some other messageboards to be the "saviour" of the heavyweight division but I don't think he can hack it against any of the four belt holders.

against Sam, Gomez looked to be a fine boxer but he appeared to have zero power in his shots, couple that with a shaky chin that was on display against Yanqui and you have another ****ed up heavyweight.

i agree he must have a shaky chin, but he has pretty good power, he knocked out Al Cole in 5 rounds, the likes of Rahman and kirk johnson couldn't do that

Against Diaz he looked to be out of shape and very arrogant showing no respect towards Diaz. He took alot of shots from Diaz but showed he would not be able to take hard shots from fighters like Rahman, both Klits, Tyson, Toney, etc etc

JC Gomez is the new millenium's version of Jorge Luis Gonzales: a phenom as an ameteur, but now a professional with an amateur style and work ethic, who won't go very far in the pro game....that slapping style will get JC points victories vs. cruiserweights but he'd get crushed by any top 10 heavyweight
