yes it was a joke because I know you don't know **** about burley as a fighter and only repeat stuff you heard other posters (such as shadows) have pointed out. Im not even sure what your definition of a "slick fighter" is because neither you or anyone has been consistent in what you claim fits that bill. From what I got from you and others is a guy who combines angles, footwork, slipping, ducking, defense first fighting etc. If that is the case then that is why I say Pep invented that style. No one was fighting like that before him. If so please name them.
Burley is one of my favorites. I went through a period when I was borderline obsessed with his career. And the ups and downs he went through. And the racism in boxing at that time. Please dont tell me what I know about Charlie Burley.

"angles, footwork, slipping, ducking, defense first fighting etc. If that is the case then that is why I say Pep invented that style. "

You just described Burley. He started his career before Pep did.

That is a VERY broad and inaccurate statement. Now saying Pep influenced Leonard and Pernell is one thing. Ill agree with you.

Saying he INVENTED slick boxing. Is irresponsible.
Yo burner no show tonight? Was ready to go hard son.

What? Just because there wasn't superstars doesn't mean there wasn't African American fighters in the 126lb division. Hell, there are black guys all the way down at 118lbs. Thats BELOW what Pacquiao was at back then. Just because he said he kept Pacquiao away from African American boxers doesn't mean "famous" African American fighters. It means in general.

Pacquiao's past is revealed but that **** don't matter now. What matters is........ Pacquiao is soon to fight Joshua Clottey at 147. We are talking about an AFRICAN who comes to fight at 170lbs on average. That's what matters.

So Muhammad's comments mean jack **** besides telling us that Arum is a ****head... which we all know already.

notice how I said "that style" ....the style you guys claim only African Americans only use. A good majority of defensive boxing is basically "slick" but if I name a guy who does those things...according to you they aren't "slick fighters". Like I said "that style"....the style you claim pac is ducking, was invented by Willie Pep.
When did I say ONLY Blacks use that style. Go quote me. Because I have said several times that race is irrelevant its the style that matters.

The slickest fighter in ALL of boxing outside of Floyd is a Puerto Rican for Gods sake.

Again how did Pep INVENT a style when boxing was around before Jesus was born?

But, it all goes with the true definition of slick... And, different fans have different definitions...

You know jrose....your replies are a breath of fresh air. Sometimes I feel like this board is complete **** and full of idiots, then I'll read post from guys like you, Shadowboxer, streetbully and others, and I'm reminded there are actually some very good posters here.

quit ****in lying. You are a poser and don't know **** about burley. I actually listened to the Get your facts radio show a week back and when shadows brought him up...you, horus and others clearly showed that you didn't have much knowledge about him prior to that. Hell I didn't know much but atleast I admit it. You have no idea how Burley fought early on in his career because most of isn't available for the casual fan.

Oh lord... First of all you're acting like Clottey is the first African that Pac has ever fought. Now since you went on a rant that really prove not a damn thing. Is that really what African American contenders was there for Pac to fight? So you was OK with any old African American bum for Pac to fight? And, before people start mentioning Derrick Gainer again. Gainer was done as a top fighter by the time Pac got to 126... So please name me the African American that was a legite contender that he could of fought...
