Where is the Pacquiao vs. Clottey hype?

I disagree, Champ. Cotto simply isn't fast enough to compete with Pacquiao, and his right hand mysteriously "disappearing" has most certainly got nothing to do with it. He would always get beaten to the punch. Every time.
This isn't a diss on Cotto, btw. I'm a fan. He just isn't fast enough.
Its not about matching speed for speed. Its about timing.
Cotto can beat Packy if he fights smarter.Comment

You think this fight can break a mili? I have to disagree...They almost sold out the stadium. It's already a success. They dont need to introduce Pac again and again. He's already Known. 3 consecutive successful PPV shows, all of them in sold out arenas. Pac basically dominates all boxing awards in the last 2 years. Pac inherit the title of PPV king from DLH already. We only buy a Floyd show to see him lose but we watched Pac PPV because of the guaranteed action fight.
I can Guarantee at least 1 M BUy for this fight.Comment

Stereotype but true. Casual fans saw Manny beat up mexicans, a really white guy, and a puertorican on PPV. Now casual fans who loves Manny would get a hard on because now he's fighting a "black guy" in a "big stadium" infront of a "big crowd" in a state where everything else is "bigger."
Although I'm looking forward to seeing how exciting the atmosphere would be, especially that really nice stadium HD screen, I'll be lying if I say that that I'm not pissed that the Pac-May fight didn't happen.Comment

i think it would be ridiculous to think two foriegn fighters generating more money than to american fighters on american soil...people keep comparing floyd jr (american) to pacquiao's (filipino) PPV sales/buys, etc...in an american country.De La Joto fight was a million PPV buys, Hatton was close to a million, the fight against Cotto exceeded expectations. And you know PAC gained the respect of the Puerto Rican fans.
You can bet his fanbase grew just from that. Puerto Ricans love action fighters, add the Mexican fans that have watched him through the years. I would consider 3/13 a bust if it does lower than 800k PPV buys.
PAC with hardly any promotion automatically brings with him 400k PPVs
do you really think floyd jr would outsell pacquiao in the philippines, or even the asian or international countries? lets see what the international buys are for both fights...i bet the international buys will be like 100 to 1 in pacquiao/clottey favor, vs in the U.S only buys to be 1.5 to 1.2 in favor for mosley/mayweather
pacquiao is more well known worldwide than mayweather jr is...point blankLast edited by indystress; 02-26-2010, 01:58 PM.Comment

Nah, you have to look at the circumstances and who is fighting. Pac was unloading recklessly like that because the fight was well in hand, Cotto was whipped, and he could get away with it. He wouldn't just walk forward clumsily swinging like Oscar is when Floyd is smashing him with the rights.Comment

It has to start very soon... I think what Arum believes is that with Pac, Jerry Jones, and Dallas stadium is good enough. And, then a week before the fight they will go through the promotional roof... Kinda like with Pacquiao-Cotto. Arum felts Pac and Cotto was good enough. And, he really didn't start the promotional campaign until a week or two weeks before the fight. He is pretty much doing the same thing with this fight. But, I doubt it will work this time. Clottey does not have the fanbase that Cotto has. And, Pacquiao-Cotto was looked as a 50-50 fight... While in this fight Pacquiao is like the clear favorite... So I felt he miss the boat and showing how Clottey could be a dangerous opponent. This is just my opinion though...Comment
