Although I dislike Calzaghe, he would destroy Froch. Like he destroyed Lacy.

But Mr. No Ceilings its because those 2 were ducking the Great Joe Calzaghe for all these years. It's not his fault.

He was 37 himself which is no spring chicken for a boxer.. Plus his hands are fooked to ****e, by 2004 onwards he was not really knocking people out anymore and had to change his style from all the injuries.

but I agree he should of fought better opposition earlier Sven Ottke would of been a good start.

And here is the problem - calzaghe has moved into that rare territory of being a great fantasy fighter, much like floyd. Floyd would have schooled Margarito! Floyd would have beat the crap out of Cotto! The same things are being said with Calzaghe. Joe would have schooled Froch! Joe would destroy Ward! etc etc etc.

This interview just confirms what most of us already knew, his deepest flaw was being afraid of losing which prevented him from taking too many risks in his career, which of course ultimately hurts his place in history.

What fights to you think he could of made happen, but chose not to?

Roy Jones, Glen Johnson, Bernard Hopkins for sure, guys like Antwun Echols and maybe even Sven Ottke. There were countless other guys at the top of SMW over the years he never fought. Additionally, instead of holding on to one belt for 10 years fighting C and D level fighters he could/should have went after the other belts a lot sooner than he did. I'm sure some of that was Frank Warren protecting him a bit, but on the other hand at the end of the day, if a fighter wants to fight someone it can happen.

Calzaghe was a talented fighter I just think it's clear at some point he got really scared of losing that zero and that effected his career greatly, imo. His resume could/should have been much better. Even if he had a loss or two if the quality of opposition is so high it does't matter. I mean recall the thread yesterday, who has a better resume - Oscar de la hoya or Calzaghe? Oscar won by a landslide. He lost a number of times but he fought everyone. That's typically how people are judged when the careers are all said and done, who did they fight? What kind of challenges did they take? etc.

Yeah he really messed up his momentum by pulling out of the Glen Johnson fight multiple times. I dont think the Ottke fight could of happened outside of Germany. I think Calzaghes MO was to fight one mandatory and one journeyman per year. He should of moved up years ago, why fight in a barren wasteland. Also the WBO belt wasnt worth much back then I remember some of Eubanks mandatorys where the WBO found them I dont know. I think Hearns and McClellan quickly vacated the WBO belt after that had won it and went after a more meaningful belt

He ducked the Cobra his whole life.

Even when he came out of the womb his first words were "don't sign me to fight Carl Froch".

and the funny thing is, even if calzaghe could whoop carl froch or would have could have should have, it's very possible that when everything is said and done, carl froch may have a better resume that calzaghe did....in a shorter amount of time.

Froch already has wins over Pascal, Jermain Taylor & Andre Dirrell. And he may have a win over kessler real soon here. Think about that for second - that's a two year span.
