because there's something called the weighin. where fighters already drain themselves to a certain degree to make weight.

Taking blood before the weighin could lead to further dehydration and/or could lead to a fighter who's actually overweight to making weight because of the lost bloodweight.

Besides anything that could be taken in the last week (when most boxers only train very lightly) would be detected in the post fight test any way.

A good read.....particularly the last sentance......which is why every boxing fan should support what Mayweather is proposing.......

Boxing needs to contract out it's testing to WADA or the USADA....this gives boxing instant credibility and avoids conflicts of interest...
would WADA/USADA give their testing services for free and waive any right to meddle in decisions of existing boxing bodies?

it's very very very much NOT free.

it's cost millions upon millions per year.

it's just paid for by the olympic organisation and world govenments.

we're talking only a couple ounces at the most but still why let an overweight fighter slide when he had a bit more trimming to do.

Wouldn't it be better if fighters didn't drain themselves for an unfair advantage and fought at their natural weight class instead?

Manny has shown that draining yourself isn't necessary to become a great fighter.
