What Floyd is doing is commendable (if he really wants the mandatory blood testing to clean up the sport) however the fighters could never effect such change because they don't run the sport. Unfortunately, we have many different ruling bodies (WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO, etc...) that have input as well as different boxing commissions in almost every state. This highlights the main problem with boxing, the reason it hasn't become more mainstream and larger in the sporting world, too much fragmentation due to not having ONE ruling body in charge of the entire sport. That's why you have corruption and a general lack of consensus on every little thing (a million different recognized champions, fighters being ranked as contender #1 by one organization and not even ranked by another because of personal reasons, etc...).

Boxing needs to clean up their sport (I'm sure their are plenty of boxers taking HGH and other things to enhance their performances) however to do this effectively they need ONE ruling body. Boxing needs a David Stern, a Roger Goodell or they need a group of people (supreme court) to decide on matters. They need a person to be in charge who isn't connected to any current ruling body or commission to come in, clean house and implement whatever they feel is necessary (blood testing instead of urine testing) to get to the point where all rules are identical for everybody.

being that Floyd is the biggest star in the sport. he can infact bring change to the sport. if he critisizes it, other boxers will/have joined the call to action, boxing insiders will and so on. the voice of change gets louder as a result and change is made.

unless the NSAC wants to look shady and corrupt by not wanting to implement something thats going make the sport better and protect fighters, they will implement random testing. and its going to lead back to floyd and pacs incident. and floyds one voice starting the movement

Difference is players in team sports may work out on their own during the offseason in order to keep up with younger players to keep from being cut from the team or keep their starting spot.

For a rugby player to be caught during the offseason would be the same thing as a fighter being caught in between a fight and the next training camp.
isnt that what i just ****in said!!!

i said THERE IS NO OFF SEASON IN BOXING. so if you want, you can look at this way, training camps would be the equivalent of an "off season" for boxing.

during training camps is when random testing will be most important. and it is also, another problem team pac had with the random testing. they said they didnt want their camps interrupted for testing....i wonder why

you guys are ****ing ******ed, i swear

victor conte and many others have stated that the most important time for boxers to be tested is durign their training camps

no it's not the same as what you said ******. training camps is when you train. same in individual sports as team sports.

for that rugby player to be caught in rugby's offseason would be the same as pacquiao being caught by the drug test in january between the cotto fight and the start of his training camp for clottey.

its very relevant. if that rugby player got caught in the offseason it would supercede team mayweather's demands for testing during training camp because you be just as likely to get caught being tested in the timeframe of the fight announcement and press tour before training camp like pacquiao originally agreed to.

                    No it's not.

And besides he was caught last November right in the middle of the most important part of the seasons, the equivelant of the playoffs.

Why not just be safe about it and test until 24 hours before the fight?
