Maidana/Ortiz falls into this category in my view.

Ortiz was the prospect on the rise and before he quit was being pushed as "the new DLH", that fight was supposed to set up the Ortiz/Kahn showdown.

Do you think that Ortiz will ever recover from that loss?

It is simple. Pavlik's team thought Hopkins was old and ripe for the taking after the Calzaghe fight. Boy were they wrong!LOL
not hating but i think pavlik and more so his trainer loew are a little dim

in the corner before the 8th you can hear loew saying 'throw more punches, thats how calzaghe beat him'-i really think they used that fight as some sort of motivation for KP and it really did backfire!

He might, he looked good against who was it Antonio Diaz?

Kahn seems to have recovered from the Prescott loss, so maybe that rematch from the Olympics is salvageable.

Jack Leow said that? lol. Calzaghe is a completely different fighter to Pavlik they were crazy to take that fight. If they won, people would say his old and if they lose

Great example. Morales didn't take the fight as serious as he should have and it was bad matchmaking from Top Rank.

I just love when Larry asked Erik if the Pac fight was still on & Arum said of course.

These sort of events are for greedy promotors.
