At 140 I think Hatton would've won a competitive UD

At 147 Cotto stops a game Hatton late.

Both at their peak of course.

At one 140 circa 2006, you have yourself a battle. At 147, it's not even close. Cotto is HUGE with a good chin and absolutely savage body work. Hatton got bullied around the ring by Luis Collazo and Floyd knocked him out backing up. I like Hatton plenty, he's a good guy and I think he still has some exciting fights left in the tank. But that left hook would find his chin and he would go down. Hatton got knocked the **** out in two rounds...never saw Cotto lose that fast.

With the utmost respect for a fellow poster, you are wrong.

Chin? Cotto. How many times did Hatton get dropped in his fight with Pacquiao? Three, one of which was chilling.

Cotto went down against Pacquiao twice. One of them was a very weak knockdown, the other one...I'll give you that. Other than that, Cotto never went down.

Margarito stopped him, but for all we know that win COULD'VE been tainted. Either way, Margarito never dropped Cotto. Cotto took a knee, but he was didn't get dropped from a punch like Hatton.

I am one of the biggest ricky hatton fans you are ever likely to find (outside of manchester) I have been to several of his fights dating back to when he won the wbu title against tony pep.

I was at mayweather-hatton and hatton lazcano, and quite a few in between.

Ricky would have NEVER beaten any version of cotto after cotto won the wbo belt at 140. He was simply to big a puncher, too much skill, too much timing and there handspeed is pretty even. Yes cotto had some problems to punch resistance at 140, and yes ricky has better footspeed, but that is pretty much the ONLY definitive advantage he has. I think hatton would have been far more comptetive at 140, and IF he made it past 8 or 9 rounds he had a SLIM chance at a late stoppage, but the problem is he would never make it there. Cotto is too powerful and superior technically. The main reasons hatton beat tszyu was because, as great as a fighter he was, he had no inside game and that led to his downfall against hatton, cotto is a different beast and has plently of inside and outside game.

Hatton would come forward get picked off with cotto's superb jab and body work, wear him down and stop him in the mid rounds, and thats if he doesn't catch hatton with something big upstairs first. As a hatton fan I have never seen any real possiblitly of him beating cotto, and especially not at 147. Ricky got outboxed by collazo and I think cotto is a better boxer, better fighter, slicker, and generally better than collazo in every way. I don't know how you can possibly believe what your saying
