It's not like everything he touches turns to gold.He has many failures,Oscar DelaHoya,Hopkins and a lot of his fighters get beaten everyday.Pacquiao was propelled by steroids and careful matchmaking.In that decade he didnt fight the best did he?He never fought a slick fighter in the whole decade.Check his opponents,do you really think he beat Marquez?There were many slick fighters especially black guys manny could have fought but did he fight anyone like them?

The same Roach didnt want Amir to fight Maidana,preferring him to fight Malignaggi.There are better fighters like Bradley who can move and punch at the same time but Roach wont allow his fighters to fight the best.After a few months he will start claiming how great Amir is.

Roach was the trainer for Bobby Pacquiao,his ass was always whooped.Roach trained DelaHoya for the Mayweather fight,DelaHoya got his ass whooped.Roach trained Hopkins for the Calzaghe fight,his ass got whooped,Richardson trained Hopkins and you saw what Hopkins could do.Roach wouldnt train Hopkins for the Pavlick fight,he claimed there was no way he could help Hopkins win the fight.You saw what Hopkins could do.All Roach knows is how to talk down fighters like he did with Oscar.

Imagine if Valero's coach was nominated for being coach of the year because Valero knocked out a few guys,everyone knows Valero just ducked Bradley.This pattern will continue like it did with Pacquiao.

Is Calzaghe not a better fighter than Pavlik? And, the reason why Roach didn't keep on training Hopkins is that he thought Hopkins was getting done as a fighter cuz B-Hop went to the wrong corner a few times in the fight. Roach saw that as a sign that B-Hop that should just retire. Roach also felt Izzy Vazquez should retire after the first fight with Rafa Marquez. After Izzy just quit that fight cuz his nose was broken and had problems breathing Roach felt Izzy was done. It turned out Roach was wrong in both cases. But, at least IMO he was looking out for his fighters...

And, Roach did have success with Izzy.

How did Roach do while training Virgil Hill?

Roach was the trainer for James Toney when Toney beat the undefeated cruiserweight champ Vasilly Jirov (spelling?) in what was somewhat of an upset. That win kind of resurected James Toney career. And, that was early in the decade. Just so you could have some kind of an idea the success Roach has had as a trainer.

Name all the slick fighters Pac avoided at lightweight?

How did Pac win fighter of the decade? well he did win 3 lineal titles in the 3 different divisions. Name me another fighter in the decade who has done that?

Pac won 6 titles in 6 different divisions in the decade. Name me another fighter in the decade who did that?

And, then in this decade holds wins over Ledwaba(arguably the best 122 fighter at the time), Barrera(was a huge favorite going into the fight), JMM(the best at 130 at the time), Hatton(undefeated at 140), Cotto(at worst the 3rd best WW at the time).

I mean you can try to diminish his accomplishments all you want.... But, he deserved Fighter of the decade... If you can't see it then I don''t know what else to tell you....
