Roach saw that as a sign that B-Hop that should just retire. Roach also felt Izzy Vazquez should retire after the first fight with Rafa Marquez. After Izzy just quit that fight cuz his nose was broken and had problems breathing Roach felt Izzy was done. It turned out Roach was wrong in both cases. But, at least IMO he was looking out for his fighters...

And, Roach did have success with Izzy.

How did Roach do while training Virgil Hill?

Roach was the trainer for James Toney when Toney beat the undefeated cruiserweight champ Vasilly Jirov (spelling?) in what was somewhat of an upset. That win kind of resurected James Toney career. And, that was early in the decade. Just so you could have some kind of an idea the success Roach has had as a trainer.

If Roac didn't deserve the trainer of the year tell me who did and why?
I never said Roach wasnt good, all I said is his ability is overstated and he gets things wrong a lot sometimes. The Hopkins incident you mention is one case.Richardson turned things around for Hopkins because being a trainer is about technic as much as it is about motivation.A great trainer can turn back the clock or even change the style.

Roach gets awards because of what Pacquiao is doing which is unfair.Pacquiao is a well managed cashcow. The people who award trainers should look at the impact a trainer has on all his fighters not just one fighter. What metrics do they use for making these awards? Is it systematic?

Regarding Calzaghe,There is no evidence that Calzaghe was a better boxer, you know and I know that Calzaghe was one carefully managed fighter who called fighters who were past their prime. He called James Toney when Toney was a heavyweight. He fought Roy and couldnt knock out Roy when everyone else had knocked out Roy.He beat Lacy who only had 23 fights and that's his greatest win.

It gets ridiculous with all the Pacquiao fanboys defending him for refusing to take a drug test for $40 million. He should be getting blasted for this, instead his fanboys veermently defend him and somehow claim this is Floyd's fault

            It's ridiculous.

But, the years Roach won the awards he deserved them... If he didn't then who did? And, all his success is not just coming from Pacquiao. That is the biggest misconception around here. Roach had great success before you even knew you Pacquiao was. Going back to Virgil Hill that was his first champ. He had success with James Toney, Had success with Izzy Vazquez. Even now is having success with Amir Khan. And, he also trains a 2 very highly touted prospect in Guillermo Rigondeaux and Jose Benevidez Jr. Pac is his most popular pupil but Roach has had success else well also... Is just that due to Pac popularity is what brings Roach the most attention. But, Roach has had success. The years he won the awards he deserved them. I honestley couldn't make a case for any other trainer who deserved to the years that Roach won them.

I see what you are saying about Calzaghe but he is a better fighter than Pavlik. Especially the 170lbs verison of Pavlik. It is easier to look good against Pavlik then it is to look good against Calzaghe. Styles makes fights. Calzaghe style would give Hopkins trouble no matter who was in his corner. Hopkins could of beaten Calzaghe if Richardson was in his corner. It could of happen but Calzaghe would of still gave him trouble just cuz of the styles.

If Ray Leonard refused to take steroid testing and not get critcized for it then why can't Pac?

And, explain how Manny is the catchweight King? If I am not mistaken Manny has 1 fight at a catchweight if I am not mistaken that is the same amound of catchweight fights that your "Pound for pound king" has right?

Manny didn't refuse to take steroid testing. He and his team AGREED initially, you know that J Ro. The cut off dates was the biggest hurdle that they backpedaled on, not the actual agreement to do the OST testing.
