That is one of the most dominating performance over another top p4p fighter I have ever seen and I'm just lucky the fight happened in my hometown. It was at that moment I became a Pac fan.
The 1st fight with Barrera Pac gets all props, but that was before Pac himself was rated P4P. Since he has been in the P4P listings he has fought no top P4P fighters but Marquez. Everyone else was just big names, former greats, but not currently great.

Yep, a perfect comparison to the first JMM-Pac fight. When it comes down to it, the judges give it to the favorite, regardless.

Some of you may disagree with that but thats my opinion.

As long as Pac has been a commodity in the sport Floyd and Hopkins have sat on top of that P4P list. Pac only got there when Floyd retired and off the strength of his close call with Marquez and a truly shot ODLH.

Now I'm not about to put down any Pac opponents they fought him and got beat. But to be P4P #1, shouldn't you have to fight and beat guys at the top of that list convincingly? (at least when they are near and within your weight class) I dont have a current top 10 P4P list at hand, but I bet none of the guys Pac has fought the past 2-3 years but Marquez, is on it.

Another question: If Mayweather comes back from retirement and beats P4P #2 amd #3, doesn't that automatically makes him #1? If not, then justify why Pac is #1?
So your whole premise for Pac not being as great as ppl say he is, would be be that he had 2 close fights with 1 guy that was ranked higher than other fighters Pac destroyed on some imaginary list fabricated in the enchanted forests in the minds of whoever?

Taking no consideration to the fact some of those opponents were bigger fighters than him and proven champions too.

Former greats not current greats. The current greats are who you need to beat to be considered P4P #1. Since when does beating has been's elevate you to the top of the P4P list?

Forget about p4p lists, I am talking about universally recognized as great.

P4P lists don't mean anything, someone could get ranked #1 just because someone else retired and you could really rank any good fighter from any weight class anywhere you want and no one could make a serious argument against it because its totally subjective.

Watch, Chris John p4p #1.....why not? he is unbeaten and a proven world champion so in my imaginary tourney where everyone is scaled to the same size he comes out the winner. No? prove it.

Pac is great because he keeps moving up the scales and lighting guys up scoring impressive wins.....this is the basis for his greatness really, in addition to his obviously natural abilities.

I have no idea. I used to enjoy NSB for good discussion.

Now I generally just come around to flame the morons. It's not as satisfying.

I like Chris John I wouldn't have a problem with anyone ranking him top 5 P4P. P4P for me is not just about wins, or beating someone bigger than you, its also about how you fight, how technically sound you are. Basically your skill set, and for that reason I can't place anyone but Mayweather at the top of the list. Hopkins was up there to for his skill set not just his victories alone. So was RJ. So with Pac its as if he's up there just cause he beat some has-been's with big names. Yeah Pac is fast, quick, but his skills are not the best in boxing, which somewhat answers the question of why he hasn't fought highly skilled pure boxers. Come forward brawlers, like the ones Pac fights almost exclusively are almost never rated high on P4P listings.
