I agree with that. Soutpaws are usually bad for any fighter. Real talk...it really boils down to this-

There are style match ups out there for every fighter. As a boxer, it's not that you duck them, but you mosdef don't make them first second or even a third option. You basically don't go outta your way to fight them. As a fan I consider it ducking still but at the same time I consider it a smart move if avoid a fight you are not ready for.

As a Pac fan....his fight against Sigurat should have never happened...but that is what happens when your team doesn't look after you. They should have taken that fight at a higher weight class. A modern example of this is Diaz rematch Malignaggi and Guzman rematching funeka. In both of the first fights, Its obvious as night and day that both guys styles are all wrong for them, so why not fight them later on down the road when you feel they may be better suited for those type of fighters.

If Peterson seen tapes of the Mitchell fight he wouldve never put Williams in with Quintana so soon. Mitchell was landing alot because of the southpaw stance. Roger was prolly looking out for his nephew in Floyds case. Most trainers do that. Not to start another flame war but thats I think Manny hasnt fought any great slick defensive minded fighters.

Well that is because Roger doesn't think much of Shane and Oscar's style. I agree Roger is a great trainer and truth be told Floyd, right now, is lightyears ahead of where he was back then as far as a defensive fighter. People think Roger doesn't train Floyd....and that is not true. He doesn't train Floyd the same way most trainers train there fighters, but he trains Floyd according to what will work best for him in the ring.

People laugh and say Roger only works the mits, but in actuality Roger is constantly working on Floyd's reflexes and defense against certain punches and combos. What they work on is what is Floyd's bread and butter....which is great flexes and defense.

Peterson and his pursuit of self glory (he is more concerned with being considered a great trainer than making paul great) will hold Williams back. I know Paul looks at him like a father figure but Pdubb is one Emmanuel Steward/Elite trainer from being great. This version of Pwilliams will more than likely get KO by a Pavlik or Mosley IMO.

What amazes with Floyd is how he thinks. His eyes are wide open studying every single move his opponent makes then he stores the **** and capitalizes on it later. A good example of that is the Hatton fight. When Floyd came forward, Hatton also came forward trying to grab, wrestle and punch. BUT It was prolly the first round when Floyd took two steps backwards Hatton followed him with his hands down and his head perfectly still.

He stored and worked on it. MID-FIGHT. So BOOM. Throws the check hook. Grazes him with it through out the fight. Then finally 10th round. He lands a perfect one. Most Floyd fans didnt even realize that he set Hatton up fpr that punch since the fight started.

No every body does that. I wouldn't doubt that either but I also think most of the slick fighters were pretty shot. Only possible guys I can think of were Casamayor at 135 or Guzman at 130. Other than that...elite slick fighters are the norm in the lower classes for some reason (atleast when pac was coming up).

Still I don't knock him for fighting Marquez instead becuase as much as I like Marquez.....he was talking too much **** about the first fight for Pac not to rematch him. Pac would have never lived down not rematching Marquez especially since I personally felt JMM put a clinic on pac. I still had Pac winning close but I won't argue a draw.

As far as Casamayor...He could have fought him instead of Diaz, but I'm 99% sure that was Arum's doing....and we all know that Pac never argues and follows what Arums says blindly.

Well I on the other hand think he will beat Mosley and Pavlik with little trouble. I think hes a style nightmare for both.

Steward would work wonders for Paul. I made a thread on that. He would teach him to fight tall. Steward is going to do the same thing with Foreman vs. Cotto.

Yeah, I'm having trouble thinking of slick fighters as well.

Jones was pretty beaten up by the time Pacquiao got to 122. Freddie Norwood was shot to **** too.

Austin and Johnson fought in weight classes that Pacquiao skipped.

Was Ledwaba slick? I know nothing about him.
