Because Marquez was a LIGHTWEIGHT. And a rather small lightweight at that. Marquez wasn't the only fighter that wanted to fight Mayweather dumbass.

No excuse for Mayweather fighting Marquez, it was a disgrace and Floyd is a prick for the way he handled that situation.

if you remember correctly manny fighted JMM twice! first fight was a Draw and the second fight he won on SD....

Everyone called out Floyd, but yet he chose to fight a featherweight. Floyd could have just made a tune up even agaisnt a Jr Welter at least then fight Shane Mosley, then Pac. This would be a good way for him to have gotten some respect from the critics, but the JMM fight was just a hoemove

To be honest when people call out Floyd he usually fights them Hatton, Marquez Moseley all called out Floyd and got the fight. Cotto never called out Floyd the only person who did call out Floyd but didn't get the fight is Margarito.

plenty of other fighters that were better challengers wanted floyd and he didn't oblige then

Because they agreed to a catchweight that was 7 pounds above Marquez' normal weight and Floyd still couldn't be bothered to make weight. That's what bothered me. I knew Marquez would lose that fight, but not making the catchweight was a huge show of disrespect for a man who I think has earned it.

P.S. It was actually 12 pounds above his normal weight, but 7 pounds above his weight at the time.
