Oscar De La Hoya at 147 in 2008 is definitely a catchweight.

Yeah it was part people being mislead and part people not knowing Oscar would have so much trouble coming down to WW. The misleading part was people thinking Pac would be at a disadvantage in the WW division. Pac has always weighed in the mid 140 around 143-146 on fight night well before that fight. Fighting at WW simply meant he could train to fight instead of training to make weight as many fighters do. Manny didn't force oscar to do anything though they agreed on the weight.

        • No. Limit of 147 for welter is not catchweight.

Oscar was a sitting duck in that one. Also have you seen fights like Martinez v. williams, whitaker v. DLH, Mayweather v. N'dou or pretty much any Tyson fight lol height and/or reach is not everything when you have speed and/or timing to counter it. Its boxing 101

            • Oscar thought he could get down to 147 and still be game but he was wrong. Botched job by his Strength and Conditioning team if you ask me.

              • So then JMM/Mayweather was at a catchweight as well as Hatton/Mayweather.

                BTWE idiot, DLH requested 147

                • Oscar willingly went to 147, knowone forced him. I remember he announced (at the post fight press conference) right after his fight with Mayweather that he was going down to 147. Plus he was the one who challenged Manny, not the other way round.

                  • To be fair this thread is not as ****** as the epic "pure Boxer" Thread:

                    http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=389564

                    But still pretty ******ed though

                    • Are we still with this? It's Oscars own fault that he was weight drained so shut the *** up about this. He agreed to the weight, he signed the contract, and after he got his ass whopped this is the excuse that everyone is making?

Oscar lost fair and square deal with it and it's not like Manny or Roach forced him to fight at that weight.
