Is it safe to say, that people who call Mayweather boring....

Most people that box say that Mayweather is a monster(technically and ring gen wise). Most people that have never boxed in their life think Floyd is boring. A small percentage that box think Floyd is boring, a small percentage that don't box think Floyd is a great boxer.

Well, the more I think about it, the more I realise you can have reason to hate his style..

Like somebody pointed out, you can like music but hate one particular singer..

I'm actually thinking of Pernell right now and to me he was damn boring actually...

But I don't know..
I've seen a lot of Floyd fights, and most of them have been pretty damn good..

Like I already stated, Floyd was great to watch at 130 and 35. Since then only a handful of his fights have been entertaining considering all his ability. Objective fans can appreciate his skills without considering him exciting. Since moving to 147 he's employed a safety first, pot shot and rely on his defense approach. It's damn effective but it doesn't thrill most fans. In comparison Roy Jones could have done it the same way, but he was entertaining because he let his hands go. Floyd COULD do this against most of his opponents the last 5 years or so. Its unfortunate he chooses not to. If he did he would be much more appreciated by even his most ardent detractors. Just my opinion.

everyone on these boards streamed that fight. the only one who bought that fight were casual fans.

i bought the fight.

didn't want to nor plan to.

my dad came over to watch the fight though since he thought i would order it.

ended up paying for that garbage.



my dad likes mayweather. he preferred leonard out of the fab 4 too.

to me...mayweather is the definition of boxing...the purest there is today...to not like his style is ok to me...to not respect it is crazy as bat **** droppings...

He doesn't have a style that sucks casual fans into his fights. It's just a fact. Combine that with the competition he fights lately allowing him to dominate, and it's not hard to figure out why people think he is boring.

IMO, you have to have a real appreciation of the sport to find some of his fights anything but boring, however he has plenty of fights that are entertaining and the Mosley fight will be another one.

Floyd is considerely good in the ring espacially if you want to see how to make a good defense movement but outside the ring he talk a lot of garbage.

to a certain degree you are right, ppl who just like brawling and thinks boxing is boring are not true fans of the sport. a real fan imo should appreciate all aspects of the sport.

ofcourse ppl are gonna prefer some things over others and thats cool, u can say u dont like to watch floyd fight. but when ppl call master boxers runners cuz they use the ring and dont stand and trade, those ppl are not fans of the sport. they dont understand boxing at all, its like someone saying they like basketball but never heard of 3 pointers cuz they just watch dunk highlights.

i agree with this. ppl who box have a genuine love for the sport and understand the sweet science. alot of ppl who dont box just watch for random violence or to watch a single fighter. those are the ppl who cant appreciate defense and ring generalship, hense dont grasp the full concept of boxing.

I appreciate and applaud FMJ's boxing skills, he's one of the purest boxers I've seen if not the most skillful boxer I've ever seen.

But saying that if a boxing fan finds FMJ boring then they are not real boxing fans? It really says alot about you being more concerned about Floyd rather than the boxing world itself.

About not knocking JMM out? Pacquiao could not do it how the heck would Floyd with lesser power than Pac do it? And if FMJ can do it would you believe that Floyd will do it? no, just no.. because it would only make certain... that match was a mismatch after all.
