I don't know but I recall a lot of people being pretty impressed with Jones on this board up till the green loss. He showed he still has skills and can still beat a lot fighters.

Amateurs and pros are two different leagues just like College and the NFL... I said I give Roy the experience nod, but it can't be looked as some HUGE factor.
I'm not saying it was a huge factor, I agreed with you that Roy's win back then is better than nard's potential win now.

    Green Hopkins >>>>>> Old Roy

Bernard didnt lose again for 12 years after Roy beat him...
Right, but he did show he was still a bit green in the first Segundo Mercado, his next chance to win a title. I mean, just watch hopkins around that time, '93/94, and compare that to hopkins later in his career. Hopkins become so much more of a complete fighter as time went on.

But I don't know why we are even discussing this cuz we are on the same page.

it's not like he was'nt boxing in prison neither, he was givin those guys beatdowns

he wasn't as green as people make him out to be
fighting in prison does not compare to fighting in the Olympics. The level of opposition isn't even remotely close.

As Roy and Bernard do.... his fans do the same... they find themselves arguing over.... nothing sometimes

You can certainly see how it molded Hopkins though. I'd say it helped him quite a bit.

I don't know how anyone can pick even/Bernard's win meaning more. It's not even arguable, no matter how technical you wanna be. The win means nothing for Bernard. A win for Roy would mean he was better than a young B-Hop and an old B-Hop;which concludes in Roy Jones is just plain better than B-Hop.

The grappling, subtle moves on the inside - even his famous right hand is known as the Penitentiary right.

Bernard is trying to cheat history.

It would be like Foreman rematchin Ali after the Ali-Holmes beatdown.

I don't like Hopkins,"big head" is perfectly found,I think Hopkins is a cherry picker, even more than Calzaghe because he's cherry picking smarter.

Pavlik at 170,Winky at 170,Oscar at 160,Tarver after Rocky 5,Roy now is pure cherry picking.
Those fight are jokes, and this guy padded his record even more than Calzaghe.

Hopkins never fought a real puncher in his career.
The ony real puncher he fought was Trinidad but infortunately a welterweight.

Pavlik at 170 is a cheat, the guy doesn't bring power at this point.

Hopkins was beating welterweights when he was a middleweight, then beating middleweight when he was a lightheavyweight.

That dirty mother****er doesn't belong in Roy's class,I even rank Cal***gy over him.

He had respectable middleweight career, padded with cherry picked opponents above their natural weight,or one who had to lose 30 LBS(Tarver)
