Comments Thread For: Funeka/Guzman HBO Rematch Faces IBF/Branco Wall

As BoxingScene.com's Jake Donovan reported earlier, Rolando Reyes withdrew from his planned fight with Ali Funeka for the vacant IBF lightweight title. Reyes had no desire to fight Funeka in his country of South Africa. The IBF has offered Reyes' slot to Joan Guzman. It puts both fighters in line to settle the outstanding issue of their controversial rematch from last November.

The IBF should just award the title to Funeka. He already beat the dog **** out of Guzman.

sounds like there are a lot of roadblocks preventing this fight anytime soon.

Also, if I'm Guzman I would decline this offer.

Funeka's huge height/reach advantages and style is just simply all bad for guzman.

Funeka should be fighting at 140.

I just hope it all works out and the rematch gets done.

There's no question that Funeka deserved to win the first fight, but I think Guzman's cut early on in the fight had something to do with his performance.

                    A rematch would settle everything.
