Does anyone want to discuss Edwin Valero?

I was looking for a thread on the lad, but I can't see one.

Oh, the official Anorak verdict (aka The Word Of God)?

He's not all that, and this will be proven when he enters world class.

You weren't a little bit surprised/impressed by his elusiveness and command of range?

to be honest I haven't watched his last fight yet. I'll watch it and get back on it. But I always have to LOL at how these punchers are hyped to **** in NSB. That's the equation:

        Can the boxer punch?

        Yes/No

If "no" = bum. Probably a euro by default.

If "yes" = new Mike Tyson. (see: Edison Miranda, Jeff "LOL" Lacy, Sam Peter....)

Sam Peter was the worst... so slow. And his power wasn't even all that.

Plus his power is above average at best Demarco was taking clean lefts without flinching.

You should give it a watch mate. I was just as doubtful as you before and I feel like a bit of an idiot for all the stuff I've said about him on here in the past now.

He showed a lot more dimensions to his game than he has previously and a good deal of discipline and ring intelligence. His power didn't seem quite as devastating (maybe DeMarco just had a sturdy chin though) but his hand-speed, accuracy and timing were brilliant. And all of this with a monstrous cut caused by an accidental elbow on his forehead.

DeMarco is no world beater by any means and his inexperience showed (he was gun shy all night) but the few fights of his I've seen before I've all enjoyed and thought he looked a decent fighter every time.

I'll definitely look at it tonight, thanks for the tip.

I agree that his power - from what I've seen - doesn't look as devastating as his KO ratio would attest.

Then again, let's not forget that Matt Skelton has over 80% KOs on his ledger.
