I would like to see how Pacquiao can handle Mayweather before making any predictions on how he'd do against a master in Pernell Whitaker. So far Pacquiao hasn't fought too many defensive-minded fighters. The southpaw style of Whitaker of course adds another dimension to the match-up.
Could Sweet Pea outbox the Filipino god?

It would be interesting to see what would happean, it is hard to say how someone would do against against Sweet Pea without seeing them in with Sweet Pea. Mayweather would be a decent measuring stick in this regard but Sweet Pea and Mayweather are fairly different in their appraoch so even then it would be tough to say.Comment

my argument for this would be
that a Defensive Southpaw like Pernell would give manny problems
i see pernell winning a close maybe split decision over mannyComment

Pac never ever wins a fantasy fight in NSB...Personally I think he could.
He was a fast defensive genious and only had real trouble with strong tall fighters.
I mean I felt Whitaker beat Julio Cesar Chavez (that was no draw). Chavez was 87-0 when they fought.
But the real honesty (and this is no hate) is when we do all of these fantasy fights we usually say Prime So and So vs Prime Whoever.....and it is so hard to do that with Manny because its more like Roided Manny or Regular Manny...and that sucks because most fighters dont get into their primes like Pac does at around the 50 pro fights mark(most of them get old). But anyway what do you think?
Might as well end the thread now..
Now if Floyd was fight Sweet Pea.. Floyd would KO him in the first round..Comment

Look at pac's fight with marquez. then look at whittaker's fights with mcgirt, de la hoya, and chavez. pac hasn't shown that he can beat a hof defensive counter puncher. whittaker was probably the slickest, best defensive fighter. gotta say whittaker.Comment

about a year ago, i asked my mother if she knew who he was... she said
"of course i know who he is, he was a show off, but he was really good"
this was coming from a 45 yr old woman.. she also said he was hated on and not appriciated..
one thing about pernel, is the ****in fought EVERYONE.. and in his prime, tore every1 up.. i had him drawing with oscar when he was past it.. he was exciting to watch, he threw swift silky smooth combos (no ****)..
i love that guy.. hes my second fav fighter..Comment
