Is Juan M. Marquez popular in Mexico?

hyperion when i was in mexico, i saw mijares, mystico, alvarez and arce on tv. i didint see any of the popular usa fighters at all.

you know what revived boxing in mexico????i think it was the contender season 1 and travieso arce.........canal 7 is the one that started the whole thing of reviving boxing in late 05......they showed the contender(delayed months...) and started showing some world title cards from japan with mexican fighters on them....then they got travieso arce, and since top rank and zanfer promotions were with arce, they started working with them ..arce vs mijares was probably the first BIG card they showed..sosa and jc jr were on the undercard....and since mijares won, he also became known...

Now manny pacquiao is probably the most well known fighter here ......followed by travieso, jc jr, and probably canelo(who televisa keeps pushing, god knows why......must be the whole mexican ginger thing)

believe it...they watch soccer not boxing, although boxing has gotten a bit more attention since i was over there. they never showed boxing fights now they do..but its not that popular
