based on what.........?? The rib injury against JMM. the reason he was so mysterious about that 1 is because some no-name sparring partner caught him a good 1 in training.

It isn't that he deserves credit for fighting within the same weight class, but he deserves credit for taking on the best fighter within his weightclass-especially when people say he doesnt.I don't see why Manny (who is also a welter) deserves any credit for fighting the man who officially lost to the man.Out of the two fights,I will have to give credit where it is due, based on the challenge. Mayweather deserves more credit for this fight.Unfortunately- there are going to be excuses from people who would have heaped praise for Manny if he took on Shane, but neglect the same courtesy for Floyd doing this. That is the double standards with fans of boxers as opposed to fans of the sport.
Let's be honest here-the majority of people are excited and glad to see Mayweather fight Mosely for the most part.Even a lot of Pacquiao fans are showing more interest and enthusiasm for the Floyd/Shane fight than the Manny/Clottey fight....it says it all.It shows the gap of talent between Manny's current opponent as opposed to Floyd's.
Why wouldn't you give Manny credit for fighting Clottey, just because Mosley is the better fighter doesn't mean Clottey is not a worthy opponent. It wasn't that long ago when Clottey was the champion who fought Cotto that beat Mosley. How do you know that Manny wouldn't have been fighting Mosley instead if he was available at that time, it just so happen that Floyd got lucky when Mosley became available due to the unfortunate circumstances that happened in Haiti that affected Berto and many others. If Mosley wasn't available, who do you think Floyd will be fighting, certainly no one in the same caliber as Mosley or even Clottey. Like you said, give credit where credit is due, and both Floyd and Manny deserves credit regardless which one is a better fight, but obviously IMO that Floyd vs Mosley is with out a doubt the better fight on paper, the actual fight itself, we shall soon find out. But i guarantee this, Manny vs Clottey will definitely be exciting and lots of fighting, not running.

            • Alright, it's finally official. I'm sure the haters will find a new way to hate on Floyd (he's going to fake an injury, Mosley's too old now, no respect because he didn't do it before, etc.), but I'm excited for this.

We got the continuation of the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao saga going. If they can both pull out the wins (and while it's reasonable to expect that both Floyd and Manny are definitive favorites in their fights, Shane Mosley is rightfully considered possibly the #1 welterweight in the world right now, and while Clottey was chosen as Pacquiao's opponent moreso for how easy it would be for Arum to get him in the ring and not pay him too much than he was for name power, he is no slouch either), the anticipation for Mayweather/Pacquiao will be absolutely molten.

              I'm excited for this fight.

2/03/2010 3:26 PM ET By Lem Satterfield

Floyd Mayweather has signed his bout agreement to fight Shane Mosley, who already had inked his name on the dotted line on Friday, Mosley's attorney, Judd Burstein, told FanHouse.

Burstein said that he learned of the development concerning Mayweather (pictured right) from Mosley's promoter, Golden Boy Promotions' CEO Richard Shaefer, which should set in motion the promotional and marketing of their bout to take place on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Richard Schaefer just called me and told me that [Mayweather's adviser] Al Haymon called him, and it's being faxed," said Burstein, with whom Mosley signed his part of the deal on Friday in Las Vegas.

"I'm ecstatic. Shane and I have been together for seven years, and I love him as a client, and he's going to show the world how great that he is," said Burstein. "A lot of credit goes to Richard Schaefer. We work together beautifully. And Al Haymon has proven that my assessment of him as a real, straight shooter and a good guy are correct. He came through."

It was easy to see desperation in team Mosley's corner. After making $1m in his fight with Margarito he's getting a career high payday fighting Mayweather.Once more Mayweather delievers, everyone who fights him makes a career high.

                    • I hope this gonna be a true fight, not a fixed one (Floyd SURE WIN) to pave way for a bigger Manny - Floyd fight. We'll see comes May 1. But still, I think Floyd will decision or late KO Shane just like his fight with Hoya & Hatton. I think Shane will run out of gas chasing Floyd all night and might get KO'd out of frustration...
