LOL-you forget to mention that Cotto got his head stomped by Margarito, then Mosely bashed the man who beat the man. Pacquiao had his chance to fight Mosely, Mayweather, Williams (he was wanting challenges from welter to middleweight-he called out Manny),etc...instead,he fought Cotto who was beaten severely and only looked decent against a club fighter in Michael Jennings! After the Margarito beatdown, everyone was wondering if Cotto would be the same fighter, and he proved he wasn't the same when he struggled with Clottey (another guy who lost against Margarito). No question about it,Shane Mosely was the man to fight instead of Cotto. If you guys can complain about Floyd taking "money" fights, why don't you complain when Manny does the same-against weaker versions???
btw-do you really believe that Cotto (post Margarito) could beat Shane Mosely of today? Cotto will be lucky to beat Yuri Foreman-the weakest belt holder of his division...

Make that 12 years. Mosley was BWAA Fighter of the Year way back in 1998.

Yeah but the fact remains that he beat Mosley before. It's not fair to second guess Cotto if he can beat the Mosley of today. Fact is Mosley did not have any fight post Margarito...and it's been more than a year. How do you think his conditioning is? Gotta factor that too.

Pac will dart in throw 2 or 3 punchers...then dart out....he won't go near the ropes.Clottey better make sure his timing is down so he can hit Pac with return fire on his way out or it will be a decision to Pac.

Personally i think clottey will fare beter than Cotto.....he can throw a right hand better than Cotto. It would not suprise me to see Clottey win it......by i still say Pac by decision.
You could be right,we will see.I have no doubt that Roach believes Clottey's style will be no different than Manny's last 4 opponents.I would say Clottey can take shots pretty well, has a better defense than Cotto, but he also has a less workrate than Cotto and moves less than Cotto.
You are correct in saying Manny is a headhunter-you very rarely see him go to the body, and when you do,it is only to set up something to the head.Remember how Manny was saying "he will chop down Yuri Foreman to the body"? I about pissed myself laughing, because Manny is not one to throw to the body...then the next day,Manny turned down the fight against Yuri and stated that "Yuri was too tall"! Something Manny's fans will want to forget!

I actually thought he didn't look to great against Jennings either.......Also i though Clottey did enough to win that fight......

You have to factor in that Floyd has fought 12 rounds in the last 2 years as opposed to Shanes 45 rounds.I would say that Shane has been more active than Floyd.
The point is the "man" on top of the welterweight pinnacle when Manny chose a fight, was not Cotto-it was indeed Shane Mosely.Shane beat the man that nobody was beating-Margarito (ok-Williams beat him before, but thats at a different time and with a height of 6'2 there is no way Manny wants any!).
As for conditioning-is there anything that suggests that he is in poor shape at the moment? He is coming off of a career defining win in his last fight.A much better win than Floyd's last win ( or Manny's last win).He has all of the confidence in the world, vast experience, and is still a top fighter on a p4p list.Where does Clottey rank again on anyones p4p list???

                • Im excited for this fight, should be interesting. To say Mayweather deserves credit for signing a contract or actually fighting a "legit welterweight" is laughable.

Who else gets credit for signing a contract or fighting someone in their weightclass? It's what you're supposed to do.

When I say he looked "decent" against Jennings,it was only in contrast to the results of the Margarito and Clottey fights. He had a style that reeked of being weary and deteriorated confidence. He appeared to be much more hesitant, and took less risks until he was absolutely sure he could.Cotto was not the same dynamic fighter after the Margarito fight,no matter if these morons want to still say he was "prime" or not.
With the Clottey fight,it was close.I wouldn't have argued if Clottey won that-but it was a close fight against a defeated version of Cotto-not the "pre-Margarito" version.
