nice article, but dougie contradicts himself, and comes off as another hater....

floyd-hatton did nearly a million buys, so if that doesn't equal public demand, idk what gets the job done.....he also states there was no public demand for hatton, and mayweather was largely unknown until just before that point.

well if that's the case, cotto and margarito were defintiely unknown, so there had to be absolutely NO public demand for either of those fights.

the baldomir thing is easy to figure out. floyd-judah was being hyped long before that fight, so once judah LOST to baldomir, had floyd fought judah after he lost to baldomir, and completely looked past baldomir and never fought him, floyd would've been crucified....so he fights him, makes it look easy, and he still gets crucified.

if dougie can name 5 other writers (besides himself), that think shane wins this fight, i'll give him $100.

Floyd Hatton did a lot of PPV buys because HBO 24/7. No boxing fan outside hardcore fans even knew who Hatton was. Hatton had a huge audience in England and that's it. And the everyday beer drinking white guy vs the loud mouth black guy will always appeal to the American audience.

I think Floyd is great, but when he could of fought guys like Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Cintron (who was undefeated at one time), Hell even Quintana who was undefeated, Clottey, or Paul Williams, instead he fought Baldomir and Marquez, I can't see how you can defend that.

To all the Mayweather fans out there:Wouldn't you agree that finally Floyd is fighting not just a good fighter but a legitimate welterweight!!! How can you be in the division for years and never fight anybody from that weight class. Here is a chance for him to back up his words for all the other fights that didn't happen and should have. I think he knows that Mosley poses a real threat no matter what age. If its so easy than sign the contract and make that easy money. I think he got pushed into this fight. Mosley challenged him in the ring old school style after Floyd stated over and over that nobody ever calls him out. Well this is the second time Mosley calls him out. Tell us Floyd what's the hold up or is there a specific number of times you have to get called out in order to take a serious fight. Its not even funny anymore just PATHETIC.

to be fair he did go for the money fights and Baldo, Judah (i think would be better at 140 personally) and Delahoya were legit welters at the time....you are right though....he needs to fight Mosley....personally i would also like to see him fight P williams at 147.....he can win that 1 i beleive...........i also wouldn't mind seeing him give Clottey shot also.....but that one becomes less relevant if he loses to pac.......

Why do you keep bringing up Pac whenever criticism is leveled at Floyd? What does one have to do with the other?

Well don't include me on that list because I don't, but I am more impressed with Pac's recent activity than anything Mayweather has done and accomplished since 2005.
