No that's bull****. All Vargas would have gained was more punishment. He just peaked at a youger age. He fought Winky, Quartey, Campas, Marquez before Tito. What's he supposed to do drop his level of competition a couple of years and hope he can learn a few more tricks while he takes meaningless punches?

Was he going to improve his foot speed that much? Was he going to drop his jab and leave his chin exposed that much less? Probably not. He was what he was at that point.

Now did Tito take away a couple of Vargas' prime years is a better question. That he definitely did.

The best fighter in my mind to emerge from the Olympics wasn't mayweather, but Vargas.Floyd has gone on to become greater than Vargas, but he never looked as natural a fighter as Vargas looked at that stage in his career.Vargas was fighting experienced top opposition while he was still a prospect and in some cases handing out beatings.

Had Vargas been brought along the way Ward,Dirrell and Khan had been brought along, then you would have seen a still fit Vargas fighting today at an elite level and a future hall of famer, but his handlers used him and burned him.
Still fit Vargas fighting today? The guy was struggling to make weight when he was 21. He had to take roids against Oscar. I think him having to make 154 is part of why he had such a short prime.

There's always if's in boxing. If Tyson focused for Buster, If Duran was more dedicated to diet, if Roach and Pacquiao never hooked up, if Oscar had kept jabbing, if if if

I think it (the Tito fight) came a touch early but hey, El Feroz had already notched up wins over Winky Wright and Ike Quartey along with his impressive KO streak. He may have just found his leve -l BELOW TRINIDAD!

Vargas was a tough kid with real talent, a good punch and a big heart, One things for sure the beating he took against Felix didnt do him any favours in terms of career longevity, he wasnt the same after really.

The slips and dodges Vargas naturally made was incredible at the Tito fight he was ducking and weaving shots while he was out.

Yea.. everyone knows Vargas was rushed way too soon againts top oposition.. but you didnt hear Vargas complain about it either.. he wanted those fights.. but honestly i think Tito and Oscar would still have beat him regardless.. Tito and Oscar were on the top of their game and they were both some bad dudes.. Vargas should have just stayed away but he showed guts to get in with the best.. respect..

I somewhat agree, I always thought Vargas was feed to the wolves at an early age. Tito being one of those wolves.
