Khan should be too quick and I am not sure how much JMM has left,I certainly dont think coming up in weight has suited him too well. That said, if JMM does have something left in the tank, then I agree, its a potentially disastrous piece of matchmaking at this point. Although Maidana hits hard,he is tailor made for Khan, and would have been a much better option at this stage in his career. 9 months ago JMM was the number two p4p.

Risky one, should get decent odds on Marquez because of the hype factor surrounding Khan,so I will probably have a punt,as I have taken the 8/1 I got on Ruiz knocking out Haye. Shouldnt happen, but at that price, worth a go.

This fight would be a great way to see just how much Marquez has left, I still think he's a great fighter but people are saying he's already heading downhill. Now If Amir can use Mayweather's gameplan of outboxing Marquez and keeping him at a distance then i'd be impressed but if Marquez can use his skill to get to Khan then he's in for some trouble. If Marquez wins big it would make the claim that he was out of his element against Mayweather at 147 more valid.

Very good post. JMM-Khan is a very intriguing fight. May the best man win.

          I 100% agree.

Marquez may be at a huge disadvantage in size and speed but his experience and excellent counter punching ability will be more than enough to take out Khan.

Like you said, Khan probably takes the early rounds because of his movement and speed but once Marquez starts putting punches together and starts working Khans body, Khan will soon find out he is in deep waters.

I see Marquez then dropping Khan with a big shot later in the fight, Khan will probably make it to his feet, but Marquez then proceeds to attack forcing the ref to stop the action.

Yeah, but what if he wins? That'd be a great statement to the US, coming across and beating a top p4p fighter. I don't know what his chances of winning are though, I haven't seen much of Marquez (any fight recommendations?), but Khan does have a bad chin, so he could get knocked out, but at least he's challenging himself.

I do predict that we'll see an improvement in Khan's punch resistance and he won't be quite the push over he was at lightweight though. Whether it'll save him ultimately I don't know though.

JM is a great counterpuncher but he caught a beating off Floyd and I think Amir will execute a similar strategy, picking his way to a UD. Might have to weather a couple of Marquez storms, but I think they'll be brief and Khan will potshot and outland him.
I expect Marquez to come into this fight at 137 or 138. I don't think he will feel compelled to fight at the weight limit just because he can.

Khan does not sit down on his punches and even when he does he does not hit harder than Mayweather. JMM will have no trouble dealing with that aspect of Khan's game.

Marquez knows that Khan has speed and..... well he has speed.

He will train for speed, he will come in light, he will track Khan down and abuse and expose him for what he is. In 10 years of watching boxing I have never seen a guy with worse punch resistance. Even your average journeyman with 10 KO losses takes a single shot on the chin better than Khan. If JMM hurts Khan he will finish him, no doubt about it. There will be no passing of the proverbial "storm" by Khan against JMM.

Betting on the Ruiz KO is the smart bet.

I certainly would not lay 5-1 on Haye to win like the books are asking. That's just foolish.

                    .
I would disagree here. Maidana is only known by hardcore fans whereas Marquez has a pretty loyal fan-base and is a well known fighter. I don't think Khan vs Maidana would get much notice by casual fans at all in america. Beating marquez would raise some eyebrows.

And that's what Khan wants. He wants to be an american star, so in his mind, he's got to fight/beat guys that america knows.

I made 110 quid when Khan got sparked by prescott. I got 11/1 and the cashier laughed at me when I laid the bet,and was like,"how the f.uck did you get that?" when I went back for my winnings the next day!
