Khan Is Making A Huge Mistake Fighting JMM

Instead of facing hard-hitting mandatory Marcos Maidana, Amir Khan was decided to duck his mandatory to fight an opponent he sees as more easily beatable. Problem is that, much like with the Prescott fight and with his announcement of a desire to fight Mayweather, Amir Khan is so far out of touch with reality that he fails to see the facts of the matter.

    The facts are simple.

    1) You don't need to hit Amir Khan hard to hurt him, just hit him clean.
    2) Maidana is a limited boxer, JMM is a great boxer
    3) Khan has never faced anyone remotely close to JMM skill wise

Khan has adopted the a new style, much like David Haye, that consists of running around the ring like a raging ****. That style would be great for someone like Maidana who would get very frustrated and start throwing any semblance of a fight plan out of the window.

JMM on the other hand will be well aware of what Khan intends to do and will be well prepared for it come fight night. Khan will likely be able to win the early rounds based of his size and speed advantages but the difference between JMM and Maidana is patience.

JMM will be disciplined knowing that sooner or later Khan will think he is having an easy night and he will slip up. When Khan does JMM will hit him with a countershot that he doesn't see and it will be goodnight Sweet Price for Amir Khan't. Unlike so many of the chumps that have dropped Khan before JMM is too damn good to let him off the hook once he hurts him.

Horrible choice by Khan, his manager and promotor. Instead of facing a crude fighter who would have trouble landing a decisive blow they are gonna go in with one of the top counterpunchers of this generation. All it takes is one good punch to beat Khan and JMM is way too good not to land it during a 36 minute fight.

seems a bit risky, i agree, but the guy said he wants big fights in america and that's a pretty big fight for him, so I guess he's getting what he wants.

Well I believe that Khan-Maidana was a big fight to the people who consider Khan-Marquez a big fight. Both matchups will appeal to hard core fans yet neither will have cross over appeal to casual observers.

I think Khan could have beaten Maidana easily and then moved onto things even bigger than Marquez. Fighting him now just seems like they think he is shot and I think that is an insane conclusion to come to based on the Mayweather result.

                Agree with the entire post.

Marquez is a quality boxer, he won't need the one punch KO power to beat Khan. Khan isn't Floyd, he won't be able to avoid JMM all fight and if JMM catches him a few times it could prove disastrous for Khan. Likewise Khan could probably dance rings around Maidana who as you say is just a power puncher and nothing more.

I don't think the fight will be too difficult for Khan. He's bigger than Marquez, a lot quicker, he can also pop a little and he's working with the best trainer in the business who will formulate the best strategy for victory. Marquez shouldn't really be fighting above 135. He looked slow and lethargic at 144, I suspect he will also look slow in this fight as he's fighting Khan, whose handspeed is comparable to Floyd's (he's probably quicker actually). JM is a great counterpuncher but he caught a beating off Floyd and I think Amir will execute a similar strategy, picking his way to a UD. Might have to weather a couple of Marquez storms, but I think they'll be brief and Khan will potshot and outland him.

I agree with your prediction of how it'll turn out, but I guess we all got what we wanted: Khan facing a real challenge.

Khan may have the physical advantages but Marquez is way too clever for him and we've seen him handle similar styles to Khan's in the past.
