Abraham's new sparring partner: SVEN OTTKE!

In preparation of Abraham's fight with Andre Direll coach Ulli Wegner was in need of a fast hit-and-runner and he found his former model student Sven Ottke.

Ottke says he's still in shape, running 7 miles 5 times a week and also be a boxing coach each summer season at the Robinson Club in Mallorca for tourists...he's weighing 181 lbs at the moment with a height of 5'10...

...so will "the phantom" at age 42 be good preparation for AA?

This also marks the completion of the circle as Abraham started his career as a sparring partner for Sven Ottke in 2003 to prepare him for his WBA/IBF unification against Byron Mitchell...

i agree. if ottke was younger it would be good just bcuz of him being world class, but at age 42 and after being inactive for years im sure they could find better allround fighters to spar. not to mention boxers who fight more like dirrell.

So besides Ottke, Abraham is also sparring Adonis Stevenson at the moment, a southpaw with good upperbody movement with solid power...

So what do AA has now:
A "runner/spoiler" in Ottke and a counterpunching southpaw with a good workrate and power behind it...

...only thing that's lacking at this time is a tall/lanky sob - I would suggest to hire Kingsley Ikeke for the sparring in Cali. Not the best mover but with a good reach and height...

...though they would need a guy whomixtures all of those 3 men to immitate Dirrell...

I hope Ottke gets a good taste of the abrahammer.

I wonder why I'm still alive having watched nearly all Ottke's defenses in the hope of seeing him being KTFO and instead I had multiple boredomrelated near-death experiences...

Tom, reports say that Kessler has set up camp in Berlin. Do you have any info?

Well, the idea behind it is pretty good... Ottke could be considered more runner then mover... something that Dirrell also does a lot which is a shame because Dirrell is pretty good if he moves but stays in punching range...

I'm intrigued by this fight... Dirrell is the best athlete that Abraham has faced and he will have to pressure him more then he usually does. Abraham faced guys before who actually were better athletes then him but his ring smarts always prevailed and he could get to them...

I expect Abraham to get to Dirrell too but Dirrell surprised me against Froch I really thought he would mentally melt down through Froch's pressure but he did pretty good and after rewatching the fight a few days ago got really a bad decision... the first time I watched this fight live I thought it was closer but after rewatching it - it wasn't.
