Dude everybody thought bro... People was actually fearing for Leonard safety... Damn near everybody was Hagler was going to beat Leonard... A lot of people still think Hagler won... And, there have been times I scored that fight that I scored it for Hagler... But, that does not take away Leonard taking a risk...

I think you are both right in the sense that Leonard fighting Hagler was not cherry picking to me but Leonard DID wait until he saw vulnerabilities in Hagler before he took the fight. This was his own admission. After Hagler fought and won a war with John" the beast" Mugabi, Leonard saw that Hagler's reflexes had slowed considerably and he told him manager Mike Trainer, "Make the fight. I can beat him". Leonard said this himself and he was very intelligent in the sense that he could see holes in a fighter's game and he knew how to exploit them. I think Leonard waited for this in Hagler. With that said, I take nothing away from Leonard's fight with Hagler because coming back after 3 years at 160 to fight the Middleweight Kingpin was still amazing for me. I saw that fight when I was 9 years old on PPV and can still hear the screaming from all of the adults pulling for Sugar Ray lol.
