I agree with you. Once you become champion you SHOULD take on the obligations that come with it and that means fighting mandatories. Once you have those out of the way the champion can pick some fights. Much has been made of Khan wanting to make his name in the States which is the way to go for any fighter wanting to make a name for themselves and dumping Warren is a great move . However those self imposed ambitions should not override the mandatory obligations and saying Maidana is not a good enough launch into the States is bull****.Maidana has a lot of exposure now after the Ortiz win and a win over him does a lot for Khan's career and awareness in the States. Khan is young does have time on his side and can fight Maidana in the States or the UK,many Khan fans feel the hostile UK crowd will dampen Maidana and could be a huge advantage. A lot of people are getting suckered into the illusion of the importance of "The right opponent" for Khan's US debut. This is Khan's self imposed choice and should not be a factor that overrides fighting his obligatory mandatory If Khan does not feel Maidana is up to the bill fight him in the UK then get "The right opponent" for the first US fight. Personally a potentially explosive fight and win over Maidana would be a great US launch pad for his US plans and not fighting him is a duck.
Khan will end up fighting Bantamweights at this rate!!

You still gonna feel the same way after JMM KOs Khan? JMM was moving to 140 after the Diaz fight anyway.Comment

my sentiments exactly...You can tell Khan is a naturally slim guy. He is very thin and tall. Light Welter is a comfortable weightfor him. Marquez last fought above that weight, and against the 2 p4p in the world. Marquez vs Khan is a great fight.
I can't believe the level of hate this kid gets. It is his first fight in the U.S and he is fighting Mayweathers last opponent. Only a dumb and blind hater could look down upon that.
success = hateComment

beat me to it, just finnished work and was gonna rais both these points.
hopefully kahn takes care of maidana then fights jmm but who cares hes gonna fight em both anyway. that is as long as he wins the first fight (whoever its against) if he doesnt then its pointless going on to fight the other.Comment
